they ( atlus ) announced 4 new games
persona q 3DS
persona 4 dancing all night PS VITA
persona 4 arena sequel PS3
persona 5 PS3

I would call that a Persona blowout

MartinB1053805d ago

Damn, I about shit myself when I read this article about a new Persona game being exclusive to 3DS, as I have no intention of buying a 3DS.

Great to know Persona 5 is coming to PS3. :)

despair3805d ago

Unfortunately its only Japan Winter 2014 release so we probably will have to wait until 2015 for it :(

Gemmol3805d ago

cause Nintendo name is on it is that why no intention @Martin

MartinB1053805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

@Gemmol,
No, not at all. I own a Wii and a Wii U. I just don't do enough commuting to justify owning two portable gaming systems and I already own a Vita.

@despair
As long as we eventually get it, I don mind waiting. :)

Kennytaur3805d ago

Well, Atlus is struggling and the Persona series is its high-card, so it's playing it as much as possible. Hopefully P5 will be a royal flush.

despair3805d ago

Atlus is not stuggling, they were the most profitable part of Index Corporation but the parent company was in trouble and thats the only reason they sold them.

lilbroRx3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

When will devs learn that people don't like kidified versions of games like this on Nitnendo hardware.

When this doesn't sell as well there ridiculous projections for it will be, of course Nintendo is going to get the blame and not their choice to try to push childishness like this on Nintendo fans, "again".

I expected better than this from you Atlus.

Concertoine3805d ago

its not kiddy... just the art style.
Persona is all about mature themes, it doesnt look like theyre removing those.
OT thats one psychadelic logo, man!

lilbroRx3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

Art style is one of the few things that define whether or not something is kiddy or mature.

The others are narrative, and characterization, which also seem to be kiddy in this.

Misaka_x_Touma3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

@lilbroRx
so Zelda WW is a kid game since Toon Lonk is cartoony and TP Link art realistic by that logic

lilbroRx3805d ago

No, Wind Waker would not be kiddy.

It was actually the most mature Zelda game released to date.

Baka-akaB3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

Thing is it will sells as expected , with a target most likely far lower than p4 Golden . They are most likely expecting two things :

- Starving Etrian Odyssey fans , since it's basically an "etrian persona" game

- Die hard persona fans willing to get any game from the franchise .

I wont get the game , i'd look forward to even a "simple" dungeon crawler persona ... however a personal big draw of the persona franchises , even with the first one , was the aesthetic . And i dont like the art and in game designs for this title

klecser3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

Have you actually played a Persona game? LOL

lilbroRx3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

I've played almost every Persona game released to date LOL... The only exception is P4 Golden, because I'm not wasting money on a Vita for another rehash.

Though, even if I hadn't done so, what difference would that make?

This is the first time I've seen a Shin Megami Tensei game that I have no interest in, and I've been a fan since Maken X.

Judging by all of the disagrees I'm getting, I guess I'm pissing off a lot of blind fanboys by not unconditionally loving this game.

klecser3805d ago (Edited 3805d ago )

The demographic that plays this game (myself included) have played countless games with "kiddy" art styles but rich gameplay. Etrian Odyssey, for example. The gameplay is all that matters. An art style would do absolutely nothing to influence the sales of the game.

So, the difference is that, of all the things a Persona fanboy could whine about, the art style is the least of our worries.

But I misspoke. You're clearly not a Persona fanboy. If Persona really mattered to you, you'd be ecstatic about ANY exposure, even on competing platforms. Niche games need exposure.

Consider this: Are you "pissing off a lot of blind fanboys", or are your comments just lacking in sound judgment and full of bias themselves?

RedHawk023805d ago

Well Nintendo is a majority kid fan base. And this game will still sell well even though it's a chibi persona game. Fans may say they don't like this stuff but in the end they'll still buy it.

SweetDangos3805d ago

and fanboys like you are what's wrong with gaming

Toon_Link3805d ago

You are nuts there are tons of people that appreciate different art styles and I'd imagine most persona fans are excited for this. I personally enjoy the art direction and am pretty sure the game will have a very mature storyline, I'm also sure my wife will scream KAWAIIII!! When I show her the trailer later.

This makes me want to get a 3DS. Like Pokemon Y, both Zeldas, Mario, and Fire Emblem haven't done it already. T_T

Toon_Link3805d ago

Dude go get it! I'm super bummed i already have a 3ds or I'd have picked up the Zelda edition that just came out. Plus all those games I own and they are all great and worth plopping down the cash for the console.

despair3805d ago

Loving the Chibi Persona characters...gah this makes me wish I had a 3ds.

byeGollum3805d ago

you know. . I was thinking of getting rid of my 3DS. Then I saw attack on titans for 3DS and now this. I might just regret getting rid of it so i'll keep her.

A beginner's guide to Persona

Atlus’ Persona series has exploded in popularity. This means there are not only mainline installments, but also ports, updated releases, reimaginings and spin-offs. There are all interesting games that do cool things with elements from the series, but it is also a series where you probably shouldn’t go and begin with the very first game. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to find a good starting point.

Frome what I remember, the PSP version of Persona 3 added the ability to command your teammates in battle? There was something different/better about battle for the PSP one. I remember noticing because I played 4, started 3 on PSP, then started over when i got the ps2 version.

I would def recommend playing either 3 or 4 before 5. the menus and the colors and fonts and everything in 5 was just SO MUCH to get used to. I felt like it was a comic book and an episode of JoJo at once. Amazing game, though lol

feenix-51636d ago

I wish I could go back and be a Persona virg once again!

Persona 4 Golden is one of the best games of all time.

Pokemon about to cross a million just over 2 weeks which is a really good sign.

Switch moving units like crazy over there.

michellelynn09761968d ago

Yeah it has. Imagine the numbers next week when Smash comes out.

Geobros1968d ago

Well, company announced 3,000,000 copies old on November 22th. Now, I suppose it will have about 5,000,000 copies globally.

ZeekQuattro1968d ago

Switch got a nice Smash 5 bump. Next week's media create will probably see the Switch at over 200,000 again like when the Pokemon games dropped.

Iamkratos1968d ago (Edited 1968d ago )

Nintendo has saved this generation of gaming from being pretty lackluster. Thank you, Nintendo.
