GTA V For Xbox 360 and PS3 Leaked Via Torrents – Gets Heavily Pirated Prior To Launch

Only three days are left in the launch of Rockstar’s GTA V yet the game is already available through torrents for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The GTA V torrents were uploaded yesterday but since their release have been downloaded by legions of impatient fans who are just contributing to piracy.

Not trying to defend the pirates here, but I'm sure there's plenty of "pirates" who downloaded it just so they could play early and then purchase their copy come Tuesday. Sadly, I know a few who are doing just that. They just like having things before everyone else.

Plus, if you look around those websites who leak games. Rockstar is one of the few devs pirates actually have a lot of respect for and will still purchase a copy just to support them.

I don't support pirating games, that's nasty if it's a hobby of yours. But i doubt there's so much pirating of GTA V because people aren't willing to pay for it, i think they are... hell who wouldn't be willing to pay for this awesome game. I think it has to do with the fact that they are able to play it now and now have to wait a week.

@ Casual Gamer trust me there's people who will pirate it just because its free and don't care. I have one friend whose payed 100$ to mod his 360 but still has to fork up 10 bucks to a guy to get the game just because its cheaper. Then I have another guy whose saying hes going to pirate it off some site because hes saving up for next gen.

The sad thing is that they both have Jobs at Wal- mart and boast about it as if there making 100,000 a year where I'm here with no Job and can still purchase all of my games.

pirates only share content to people who cant really afford it (in other hand, if you buy gaming console in first place, you should be able to buy GTA5 for it :)).. while hackers are those who ruin websites, puts down networks, make viruses and worse.. just saying..

This far I downloaded some unpopular games from torrent just to test them on PC.. if I like them, I buy on my PS3.. nice way to review the game yourself before buying.. (it's not like GTA5 needs any testing.. it will be massive, epic and good looking!!) ;)

EDIT: also pirated GTA5 is worth nothing.. it is only a copy, you cant play it online and there is no automatic updates and so on...

If it was about those who can or cannot afford it , for starters they would have the decency of waiting for the game's official release . It would force the hungry folks who can actually afford the game that are in a hurry to purchase it .

There really is no need to pirate on PC these days considering the amount you can get for a very cheap price. A pc gamer only has to wait no more than 3 months after a game release and get it for less than $10.

Humble bundle is an absolute steal and at the same time you are supporting charity.

Piracy is a non issue. I bet most PC gamers just pirate the games to test them out on the PC as we don't get demos anymore and then buy them when they know it works properly on their system.

Demos were extremely important for PC gamers but now demos are just used as a marketing tool by publishers.

I have 640+ games on steam and yet I'm still labelled as a pirate by most console gamers and publishers because I'm an avid PC gamer.

A few bad apples does not mean that all PC gamers pirate.

At the end of the day , whatever the platform , when there is a way , a splinter of gamers will get it because it's available . DRM free games deemed excellent still not getting the full support they deserves (and without popularity issues when you see how often they are downloaded or torrented) , kinda show that .

So i wouldnt bother caring about whom get blamed or it . Some people are just cheapskate or idiots on any given platform , and publisher needs to just see that instead of punishing actual customers

anyway, rock* chooses to go console first with gta, its up to them. They have a big hold on the casual console market as well as the "core" gamers.

The game has been sitting in storage for weeks, instead of forcing people to wait until the 17th they should have released it either on the 6th or on the 13th at the latest. Tuesday is a stupid day to release it anyways.

Tuesday is a stupid day? What planet have you been on an what type of games have you bought in the last 5 years.. All big titles release on a Tuesday, when most servers are updated. Hope Sony & MS ban anyody that gets a trophy/acheivment tied to there gamertag from GTA before Tuesday morning. The 1 developer in my opinion besides Bungie an a couple others that doesn't just see gamers as a profit margin , an you pirate there game. That's what you get for not using the PS3 features to their fullest extent. With the Blu-Ray Disc, the PS3 version of GTA V could have been over 50 Gigabytes of data, making it virtually impossible to pirate, so the PS3 version of the game could have made a lot of money, which would have been useful to recoup the money lost on the Xbox360 version of the game.

I own a JTAG and can run ISOs. But out of respect for rockstar im not downloading it. they put so much into this game to not triple the money on release day. they honestly deserve every penny and i hope who ever got it for free buys a copy too.

1) originally consoles had mod-chips for the sole purpose of being able to back-up your hard earned games, there's nothing illegal about that stop bitching about it its not pirating.

2) ps3 you can still play backed up games or as you "goodie" people put it, pirated games. its not effecting you as in the "public" in anyway shape or form.

everyone pirates something it doesn't matter what the hell it is, computer software, games, music, movies, etc. I'd rather spend my money on bills so my kids and my house is covered. f*** spending $60-$70 a game that s*** is outrageous, they jack up the prices on everything not just in the gaming industry its everywhere. that's why people go the cheaper alternative route. so before you all start gang-banging on the so called "pirate's" ask yourself this question. "how much s*** have i burned or made copies of in my life time?" or "didn't pay for" i guarantee everyone of you have at some point in time.
