Devil May Cry coming to Xbox 360?

A page in the Capcom 2006 annual report which is about the company's new mulit-platform strategy mention the game Devil May Cry along with Resident Evil. The text is a bit vague but could this mean Capcom is also planning to release Devil May Cry 4 on the 360? Only Capcom knows for sure, but feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

My take from both the report AND the interview was very much that this title will be multiplatform...whenever there are vague statemenents (Oblivion, A.Creed, etc) the title ALWAYS ends up being multiplatform.

With the sales of Dead Rising on the 360, as well as Capcoms MISSION STATEMENT of utilizing multi-platform development to reduce costs, anyone who doesn't think ALL Capcom games will be multiplatform is insane.

PS3 will get lost planet and dead rising.
360 will get DMC4.

Can we all accept what seems obvious and move on.

This does seem to imply multi-platform DMC but doesn't neccessarily say DMC4 specifically. This could mean future titles like DMC5, lost planet 2 and dead rising 2 will be multi-platform or it could mean all Capcom titles including DMC4 will be multi-platform. It's very vague.

Dead Rising, wouldn't be ported since they said the game was heavily optimized for the xbox 360 that it "wouldn't be same" on any other console. As with Lost Planet, it's still in development, but it appears that Microsoft has some kind of a deal, because it was quoted that the game is an exclusive to the xbox 360.

As with DMC4, I think it will be a Ps3 exclusive, since capcom needs to spread the love.

so many games are optomized for specific systems, and they all eventually end up being ported. Residtent Evil 4 on the Gamecube was a case-in-point for Capcom. They may be making decent money in America, but the sore-spot that will steadily nudge Capcom towards porting LP and Dead Rising to the PS3 will be Japan. nigh every major franchise will be multi-platform, and i'm starting to think that that may not be a good thing. if all games are on all systems, whats the incentive of buying more than one console?

Congratulations on the huge bite of irony you gave us in your post.

In fact, movie theatres ARE specific about what/when/where movies are released because of how much money they pull in.

For example, I have two major movie theatres in my town. One showcases the huge movie titles like Pirates of the Caribbean and all that jazz. They are also located in one of the most popular shopping areas in my town, which pulls customers both ways.

The other theatre plays low-budget, small name, and foreign films exclusively. This theatre is out on the edge next to a more "sophisticated" set of shops on the opposite edge of town. They both bring in a lot of money and they are owned by the same company.

So... that is completely realistic to release a movie in only half of theatres available because it is a smarter business decision to put something else that will be more appealing and ultimately bring more business.

I could care less about DMC, more power to anyone who can get it. I never really liked that title much, though. Consoles need their exclusive titles but for the most part there is no sense in making games exclusive to one console if you are a third-party developer. Unless it is a really great game that can only be properly experienced on that console then it wouldn't hurt to release it to all platforms.

Of the competition. Most Developers won't deny a console with a massive fan base for just 1 year of sales. And on top of that....the 360 has gamers that actually buy games. Almost 5 games per gamer. thats not only a record number, but developers see dollar signs....As of now, the only ps3 game getting any attention is Resistance. And with that said, I haven't been 600 dollar impressed. If the ps3 was 300 or 400 it would be a no brainer for me personally. But something about that OVER half a grand....Resistance doesn't look as good as half life 2 to me. And for it to be Sony's flagship title...you would think it would set the standard for ps3 games. Ubisoft never denied that AC was coming to the 360. they just kept saying that "Assassin's Creed is only announced for the PS3." thats a vague statement that can mean anything. on the other hand, we have Capcom's director of marketing flat-out saying that DMC4 will not come to the 360. there was no "DMC4 is only announced for the PS3." he gave a flat-out "No" answer. with the way things are going it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see all three IP's (DMC, LP and Dead Rising) become available for both the PS3 and the 360; but this news is not enough. i for one always felt that AC would be coming to the 360 as well: my mistake was with the timing; i always thought it would be a PS3 timed-exclusive, but i guess i was wrong. i could also be wrong about DMC4; however, to postulate the notion from such a vague comment like the one given is not enough to go by.

I don't really care whether the 360 gets it or not, I'm just stating that he flat-out denied it, versus Ubisoft danced around the question by saying "It has only been announced for PS3." Anything can happen these days, multiplatform is where the money is at. I never thought Resident Evil would go to any other console than Playstation after all the releases they had, but they were able to get more money by going multiplatform, so who knows. Dead Rising will probably be on PS3, there is a decent chance of DMC4 being ported to 360, but I'm just saying that they've completely denied it as of now.

now, from that you can make all sorts of assertions. for instance, since the article starts off with, "Capcom's platform stragegy is to INTRODUCE multi-platform products in order to increase sales," you can say that the status-quo with all current project will remain, while Capcom will introduce new IP's aimed at multiple-platforms. "Multiple titles are being developed already," means just that, Capcom is developing multiple (more than one) titles across all next-gen systems. it doesn't say what titles are specific to which systems, it just says that they are making them.

If you re-read that you'll see that it's referring to two separate issues, doing some multi-platform games *and* investing in existing IPs, e.g. DMC. The quote does nothing to support the idea that DMC is going anywhere.

That's not to say it won't, but you should use something else to support the argument. I for one, as a horror collector, would love to see Dead Rising on the PS3.

Reality check folks, almost all the big 3rd party vendors who have the muscle and money will make games for multiple platforms. It just is a good business tactic. As others have said, 1st party games will become the main point of distinction for the consoles.

I think what we can expect to see from the 3rd party devs is a lot more timed exclusives and more common I think will be content exclusive peices similar to the GTA deal with MS. This makes the most sense for them (3rd parties). They still get the multiple platform revenue and they also will get the console makers to pony up cash for something exclusive for them.

So be preppared to see lots of future 3rd party games from the likes of Square, Capcom, FromSoftware, Rockstar, Ubisoft, etc... going mutli platform.

Gears of War - Epic: Nice game with great visuals, but I don't think the gameplay will be as spectacular as graphics. Hide and shoot, we already have too much of it. 12 hours, a little too short.
Halo 3 - Bungie: On PC there are much better FPS games than Halo, no need for this game.
Kameo, Viva Piniata - Rare: 1st one a kiddie game that I don't play and 2nd stategy => much better games of this type on PC.
Table Tennis - Rockstar Games: You must be kidding
Halo Wars: strategy => PC
PGR3 and 4: racing => PS3/PC. This game ain't better than PC/PS3 racers
DOA (X or normal ones): Fighting => much better games on PS3.
Lost Planet: Capcom game. PS3 will surely get enough games from this dev and I wouldn't woder if it will also released on PS3.
Huxley: PC game
Too Human: a game that's already 10 years in developent and Silicon Knights, devs that delivered solid but not great games.
Mass Effect: Bioware => This game will probably also be on PC, same like it was with Knights of the Old Republic I & II. Both games were released first on Xbox and later on PC.

As you see there is not much left if you are a PC gamer. I was always preaching that best deal ain't having all consoles, but having a PC and PS3. Sony just offers more games which you will never see on PC. They offer also games of quality and innovativity that put all these games to rest.

What was biased about it? PC is the cream of the crop when it comes to FPS/strategy. Read the reviews, Halo isn't anything special on PC. There are much, much better FPS games, same goes for strategy.

you are welcome to your opinion, but the fact that halo was one of the most popular games of all time on a console that sold 1/4 of the amount of ps2's speaks volumes.

get over it, there will be great games on both consoles, just go with the one that has the games you want and try not to put down other systems because it inflames your fanboy ego.

and FYI: all the arguments you have about 360 games that could be PC, or have similar titles on PC, fall into the same arguments anyone could make about ps3 games, or any console game for that matter.

it is less likely that DMC4 would come to 360.. BUT i am 100 sure that DMC5 would come to 360 as well as ps3.....

from the interview... the person said that DMC4 is further along the development.. (so it would take much more time to port it to 360)... on the other hand Resident Evil 5 which started later is multi-platform....
Its the same case with Lost Planet & Dead Rising.. it would take much more time & effort to port them to ps3 so they would be 360 exclusives....

but my guess is next iterations of lost planet, dead rising, dmc, re would all be multi-platform.

Ok, PS3 Ultimate, I do agree "PS3 is STILL going to sell way more on the PS3", because unfortunately you cant buy the 360 version of the game and play it on the PS3. So why would the 360 version sell more for the PS3?
How can you people be so passionate about others NOT getting your game (and what makes it your game?). If other people have the ability to buy your game, even though they chose another console, be happy. The developer gets more money, and makes more games, and the devs are more influenced to make a better product.

Devil May Cry coming to the 360 would be a good addition and it might happend. I agree with some of the previous posts about "Exclusive Deals" being a thing of the past...atleast for Sony. It takes alot of money to keep these games exclusive to just one console and Sony doesn't have that extra cash anymore. However, Sony has a HUGE fanbase and feels that they dont need to keep these games exclusive anymore cuz there fans will still choose PS3 over 360!
On the other hand, Microsoft has the money and has grabbed many exclusives for there system. Recent news of Microsoft having exclusive deals with Bioshock and the next Splinter Cell shows that Microsoft is playing hard ball and grabbing all the good games. If Xbox gets DMC and MGS...than it's official...the 360 will be the better game system.

well there has beeen a lot of different veiws about this. i have to say i expected some of the comments. if it does arrive on 360 then it will be because capcom want to make a few quid on a console with a good fanbase already installed. if it doesnt then im not bothered i will gewt it when i get a PS3. there is one thing to consider on the console exclusive issues though.
Before this gen sony were the outright leaders of the field no-one can argue with that but so much has changed over the last 12 m onths, sony still have a lot of brand loyalty but they have made a few mistakes which have alienated the casual gamers especially with the delays in europe and the such like. MS are still the underdogs but are doing well with no competition at the moment. if i were working for 3rd party devs looking at the market at the moment i would probably come to the conclusion that there are and will be no clear winners so its better to sit on the fence release multiplatform and rake in the cash. what would you do if someone said you could either make 5 million by releasing on one console or make 10 million by releasing on both? my point really is for all third party games dont rely on exclusivity for either console these guys are there to make money.

I agree with you with Sony being the leaders of last gen...and thats why there fanbase got so big. But I think Sony is banking on there fans coming back without the exclusives they had last gen.

Microsoft has alot of money to play with and will spend alot to grab a third party exclusive, just like they showed with recent acquisition of Bioshock and the next Splinter Cell.

The hardcore fanboys will stick with there systems no matter what, but the casual gamer will pick the console with the better games, better exclusives. I myself never liked Nintendo games like Mario(except MarioKart), Metroid, etc...I always thought they were to kiddy...but I purchased a gamecube cuz of there Resident Evil exclusives.

With Sony losing there exclusives and xbox 360 having exclusive AAA games; Microsoft will win the hearts of casual gamers.

I think dev's are in a great position this generation of gaming because both M$ and Sony will have a strong market share and install base....so basicly dev's will make less exclusives because I don't believe that M$ or Sony will be too inclined to pay for alot of exclusivity contracts because even if the game sales big....it will need extra ordinary sales to make up for all the money that was fronted for the deal.

Now for dev's having two consoles with large fanbases by making a game multi-platform would garuantee healthy profit margins, yeah they will have much larger development costs for multiplatform games, but if its a good title the sales from both platforms will be well worth it.

I don't think its a stretch to say that DMC4 or some version may come to the 360, but even if it doesn't Capcom has basicly said that multi-platform games will be their strategy....so it looks like we will be seeing at least the majority of their future games on both consoles.

Keep in mind however, if one console dominates the sales chart, then you can throw that whole strategy out the window.....IMO thats very unlikely, although M$ is doing well and it was a great start, the thing is its a LONG RACE TO THE FINISH LINE, Sony has one significant factor which is name recognition/brand loyalty in its favor, and I believe eventually Sony will have a small lead but their dominate position of the past, is all but gone...IMO.

7.75 million is hardly 1/4 of PS2 sales and such sales hardly indicate the most popular game of all time. Both Halo games ain't even in top 20 best selling console games and just GT3 sold more than both Halo games combined:

Why am I talkin about PC? Well I think it's better to be a multiplatform gamer than having just 1 console. This place is called news4gamers and we are not only talkin about consoles, but about games. Truth is best FPS/strategy games are on PC and as I stated before best deal is not having more than 1 console, but a good gaming PC and a PS3. That way you will have much more exclusive games than with this both consoles. PC has much more games than the 360, which you will never see on the PS3. PS3 will have much more games than the 360, which you will never see on the PC. You probably askin yourself how can I say it when the PS3 isn't even released yet. Well, it's just the experiance and common sense. PS3 will have a lot more Japanese games and there are next to none Japanese games on PC.
So if you are a true gamer that wants the best next gen games library, there is no other choice than PC and PS3. I left out Wii, cause I can't rate a game next gen without next gen graphics and the Nintendo games ain't of my taste. If you think otherwise you can add the Wii or replace the PS3.

Did you ever consider that ANYBODY could throw a quick list together of PS3 launch games and then next to them say that the PC or the 360 has better games in that genre/category.....and it would be every bit as "genius" as your opinion.

I would agree there are alot of 360 games that may end up on PC for good reason, because they become very popular overtime and its a natural transition to increase profits especially after 1 or 2 yrs already into a games life cycle which means its a great game. Personally there are alot of people who prefer their games on consoles....I like using the controller in my living room on my big screen HDTV, and don't want to pay for pricey upgrades every yr or more so I can enjoy new games, so I don't play PC games, but thats just my preference. BTW, as far as sales go, Halo 1 and 2(14+ mil) have sold more games than the highest selling FPS franchise on PC of all time, which is Half Life 1 and 2(12+ mil) and HL series released first in 1998....so that at least shows "somebody" must enjoy FPS games on the 360 rather than the PC.
