FIFA 13 dev on Metacritic: ‘not listening to your fans is a dumb thing to do'

FIFA 13 producer David Rutter has discussed how his team has grown over the years, and shed light on the way the studio strives for excellence in a tell-all interview. Fan opinion is still number one, even if Metacritic is fast becoming the industry’s barometer of quality.

unless your fans are being dumb...

They are smart enough to know the dumb comments from the intelligent ones.

The intelligent ones are things they already know of or have at least discussed before.

Rutter can go fudge himself. Seriously, their team barely listen to their fans at all and almost exclusively focus on features which sound good. It's taken them how long to get some what should be basic features in clubs?

What they do is focus 90% on marketable features very few people actually asked for then 10% on community feedback then milk the crap out of that 10% with lines like "you asked and we delivered" and other such bullpoop.

What about the momentum/scripting debate? Something that clearly exists in the game yet the devs themselves have the audacity to accuse people on the forums of being paranoid. Further more, they have now banned the discussion (to save face I guess) so that any thread trying to discuss it, is instantly locked. The devs said momentum isn't in this year despite maintaining that it doesn't exist.. I bet we will still see the exact same problems again and they'll turn around and say it doesn't exist and lock/delete threads bringing it up.

The thing your complaining about can't be fixed in the given amount of time and will be addressed in Fifa via the xbox720 & PS4.

They will have more than 1 year to dev the new games for the new systems.

Until then though, they have done a lot to improve on almost every aspect of the game , year in and year out.

Defense was improved, offensive AI improved. General AI improved, goalie AI improved, Ref's more realistic, graphics touched up, Animations are much more realistic.

They added international mode into Manager and BAP mode to give you that World Cup experience and excitement.

More kits, leagues teams, a 1 beautiful new stadium.

Sure there are things to improve on but it's pretty obvious after watching hours of videos and reading previews and REVIEWS from people who have had time with the game that this, Fifa 13, is by far the best sports game YET created.

understand this.

People said that about Fifa 12 and what a piece of crap that turned out to be for various reasons like the impact engine which nobody even asked for.

"EA’s European studios including DICE, Criterion and Ghost Games"

will probably add fuel to planes and tanks etc where if you run out you have chance to buy more during the game and charge for bullets like paintball

Not all outdated football games are worthless

Games Asylum: "Outdated football games are a common sight when scouring jumble sales, car boots and charity shops for bargain price video games. Entire shelves filled with decade-old FIFA and PES games spread across a dozen formats. Often they end up in bargain bins, sitting alongside unwanted celebrity fitness DVDs and seemingly random TV show box sets. But here’s the thing. Not all football games gathering dust in the likes of Oxfam are in fact worthless."

Now Sonic Boom & Bayonetta 2 are being outsold by FIFA 13 Wii U

Just who is buying FIFA 13 on Wii U? We may never know, but there are more people buying that than there are Bayonetta 2 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.

Sonic Boom? welp, sucks to suck.
But, Bayonetta is a real shame

wonderfulmonkeyman3856d ago

Sonic Boom is riding off the popularity of the TV show; it's a bad game.

And as for FIFA?
Well, guess that goes to show that there's a lot of older gamers on Wii U that wanted FIFA, then; sports games generally do out-sell action games, and Platinum isn't known for large sales in the first place.

I'm not worried for Bayonetta. It'll hit that 1M mark by the middle of next year, surely, at its current pace.

are seriously trying to downplay Bayonetta 2 with sales
