For this month of May, we have Elias Toufexis, who voiced Adam Jensen in the award winning game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I originally met him at an event and we both agreed to have an interview for KHPlanet. We discuss the character of Adam Jensen and Elias’ abundant acting career. Plus, we now know of two new games being developed with Elias’ involvement. Could Deus Ex: Human Revolution 2 be announced at E3?
In a message posted to Reddit, Deus Ex actor Elias Toufexis said he'll always be associated with Jensen, "and that's fine with me."
He should be more heartfelt towards the team that got their game dumped on rather than making this about himself. Seriously. F- this clout chasing jack ass especially with this timing and the impact this had on the studio (the cuts and layoffs) and their families. You are outsourced and totally replaceable yo. Take this weird-azz VO actors worship and cram it.
Elias Toufexis, the voice actor behind Adam Jensen from Deus Ex says that using his voice for an AI performance is a "theft of his voice."
AI voice acting has considerable potential, especially in RPG games. Imagine playing a game where your characters voice could be your own. Furthermore, NPC could procedurally generate speech based on algorithms. However, cloning the voice of people is controversial, especially when there seems to be no regulation on who can use AI voices.
it's a mod and nobody is making any money out of it, i understand why he's angry, but i doubt there's anything he can do legally here when there's simply no benefit, it's no different than a million of memes of other people faces, Schwarzenegger videos singing Wizard of Oz songs (search it), and so on.
That Elias guy better fight for this stuff and not be afraid to lose out on some work while fighting. If not it's just catharsis and AI voices will proceed.
However, we all know voice actors won't. They will cannibalize each other and jump when the boss says jump, all the while AI voice acting creeps in. Years later, they will lament on social media to stay relevant. More years later, gamers will talk about how much better the good ´'ol days of real voice acting were. Next, someone will write a book about the lost voice actors and make some money and then even more years later no one will even care enough to be nostalgic. Look at the transition from theatre to silent film to talkies, or painting to photography to digital art to AI art.
"Good luck" on your non-fight to stop AI generated content across the board.
Machines have replaced numerous roles. No one has a unique claim to a sound. Someone out there might have a voice almost identical to yours or could mimic it flawlessly. You wouldn't have grounds to sue them for it.
The next few years regarding AI legislation are going to be interesting, to say the least.

Why aren't there more? A Star Trek RPG for one. Or something with non humanoid aliens?
I really hope Naughty Dog is doing a Sci-Fi game. As a lover all most things RPG I would love to see Naughty Dog quality in an RPG.
Good to hear. I loved DE:HR.
