XDefiant Matchmaking System Announcement Exilarates the Fans

Fans are impatiently waiting for the XDefiant to drop. Preseason starts on May 21. The excitement is almost palpable. Fans of XDefiant are super pumped to try out an uncommon matchmaking system.

XDefinat Players Rave About the Implemented System

Ahead of the launch, Ubisoft posted an article explaining their matchmaking system for XDefiant. Fans were quick to notice that there would be no skill-based matchmaking (aka SBMM). That is, at least for now, ranked play will be available as soon as next season.

A Reddit user, LittlePeepkin, said: “No matter what, if there is no SBMM and it stays true to that I will 100% support this game throughout its life just for the simple fact of that and lobby is not disbanding ping is king like everything!! I wish Call of Duty would still be like that”. Many players agreed wholeheartedly. 3la2Saber added: “Ping is always King. I am supporting this game from day one. I hope they get it right because we need to have fun again like COD used to be”.

Another fan, Fresh_Achilles, raved: “With you 100%. Me and the boys are ready for that old-school cod feel. Definitely going to have those lobbies where we get stomped, but will get in our stomping too. Lobbies staying together and going at it with that one player to get the number 1 spot. Hyped”.

The Executive Producer of XDefiant, Mark Rubin, received a lot of praise, as well. MuchasBebidas exclaimed: “The main dev Rubin basically created the Call of Duty franchise. This guy is an FPS [First-person shooter] goat, he was a main part of creating CoD4 and MW2, CoD4 being the game that revolutionized FPS on console (as well as Halo). He’s willing to listen to the community and players as he’s shown throughout the dev process”. The OP reminded the community that Mark Rubin was also on the original cover of MW2, dressed in warfare attire.

Fans Wonder Whether Skill-Based Matchmaking Is Better

Of course, not everyone is as excited by the SBMM announcement. RepulsivePeng reminded: “I’ll give it a try but remember guys no SBMM was good when we were the kids that could no life the game, unless you’re a streamer or unemployed prepare to get stomped every game”. A player, Apprehensive_Row_161, said: “I don’t think young players that are used to SBMM are going to like it. They are going to be curb stomped every game until they quit”.

Another warning came from Re7olutioN who proclaimed: “After the first couple of months casual players will leave the game because of sweaty rabbits and high toxicity will takeover. I’m glad I’ve decided to not play this game”.

As for our opinion – variety is the key. Obviously, the developers of XDefiant agree, as both SBMM and non-SBMM will be available. So, you can choose your preference, if you are a novice, maybe playing with people of the same rank will help you advance. Maybe, you are one of those people who rise to the challenge, so why not try playing with all the ranks? If you are one of the true XDefiant fans, you’ll certainly enjoy any matchmaking system. We suggest you give both options a try. You never know, you might surprise yourself.
