Any devoted player knows how annoying it is to have someone away from the keyboard in a game. Unfortunately, the number of AFK players in Valorant has slowly been rising and other players are asking for more punishments as they are tired of this petulant behavior.

Valorant Players Stand United Against Those Playing AFK

Many players pointed out how annoying the sheer number of AFK players was. One new player, sterlingpipin noted: “Why tf is there so many AFK players? I just downloaded this game today because it came out for the console. But for quite a few matches there have been people sitting AFK in spawn. It really is infuriating”.

Several players confirmed that in almost every game they played there was at least one AFK player. Some unlucky fans, like PlasmaGod1971, encountered 3 AFK players in one game. This player asked: “How are people dodging AFK Penalties tracked? I obviously reported all 3 but is there actually any chance it gets heard?”

One player, doopsnogg42, suggested the reason behind the ridiculous number of AFK players. They noted: “People download the game not sure if they like it, then they get into a game that can take a while sometimes so they end up just walking away from their console rather than play the game out”.

Could Drastic Punishments Be a Solution?

One devoted player, A_Spicy_Panda, assured that the number of AFK players in Valorant decreased when you leveled up so the punishments might not be necessary. They stated: “It never goes away completely, but definitely happens less as you level up and if you play Ranked”.

This player added: “If somebody is AFK right off the bat, you can vote to /remake and get into a new game”. This is actually a great tip, as many players are unaware of this being a possibility. Also, you can always report the AFK players.

Dunkmaxxing shared their grim point of view. They said: “There is no real punishment and there never will be because Riot loves money. On PC even in Ranked every 3-4 games someone is probably AFK or rage-quit. People also seem to be way madder than a few years ago”.

We are glad Valorant Beta has been released on consoles, but this type of behavior shouldn’t be allowed. Honestly, maybe instating some stronger ways of regulating players isn’t a bad idea. The plea for stricter penalties for players who behave badly has been heard and delivered upon. Who knows, maybe the devs will do something about the AFK players as well. Only time can tell, until then, be patient, and let’s hope for the best.
