As the upcoming Helldivers 2 01.001.007 update gets closer, Arrowhead Game Studios releases daily teasers to give players a look at what to expect. This comes following the 60-day roadmap that the developers released after the Escalation of Freedom update caused massive backlash from the community due to many popular weapons being nerfed including the Flamethrower and Breaker Incendiary Shotgun.
Ahead of the 01.001.007 update, which will land on September 17th, Arrowhead Game Studios has released the next teaser, this time focusing on the 500KG Bomb, and it will finally be worth using as it is set to receive a major buff.
In a post on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, Johan Piledtedt and Niklas Malmborg discussed the upcoming buff, and it has been revealed that the “Eagle 500kg bomb explosion radius is now increased to match visuals better.”
Johan Pilestedy and Niklas Malmborg told players “The 500KG Bomb radius, it’s back baby,” before correcting themselves saying that “it never was here,” further adding that “it is now what it’s supposed to be.”
Pilestedt revealed that the Stratagem will now be more destructive saying “The 500KG Bomb is as the visual explosion says that it should be, so it’ll blow up a lot of enemies.” Malmborg concluded with the perfect way to summarize the upcoming buff saying “Big booms should boom big.”
Previously, the 500KG Bomb has been incredibly unimpressive, with even chaff enemies such as the Trooper still appearing from the cloud of dust with all guns blazing. Now, it looks like it should wipe out more enemies, which could make it a viable part of the meta. There are also rumors that a 1,000KG Bomb could be coming to Helldivers 2 in the future, which could act similar to a Hellbomb but in Stratagem form.
