The First Descendant is an upcoming sci-fi co-op “looter shooter” developed and published by Nexon Games. It features high-quality graphics (looking a lot like Stellar Blade), intense boss fights, and various unique characters. You play as Descendants, superhuman beings tasked with protecting humanity from alien invaders, the Vulgus. You will have a lot of abilities and equipment at your disposal so expect a lot of intense and beautifully rendered fights. Release Date for The First Descendant

The official release date for The First Descendant is July 2, 2024. This was announced at Summer Game Fest 2024, and it leaves us with less than two weeks, at the time of writing, to prepare.

The First Descendant will be released on all the currently popular platforms, so even last-gen console users can enjoy it:

We are only missing the Nintendo Switch, but it stands to reason that newer online co-op shooters are not very Switch-friendly, so the chances of The First Descendant coming to Switch in the future are slim at best.

Is The First Descendant Free to Play?

Yes, Nexon Games’ co-op shooter The First Descendant will be free to play. You can spend real money on in-game currency: Calibers.

Will The First Descendant Have a Battle Pass?

Yes, The First Descendant will have a Battle Pass full of cosmetics and in-game currency, and a second type of “store”, a Battle Supply Shop. It will have an interesting mechanic where you have to spend Calibers to unlock the Battle Pass, but then you have to complete special Tasks to earn Battle Coins and Supply Coins, to actually unlock those rewards.

How Many Players Can Play The First Descendant?

This is a squad-based shooter, and up to four people make up a squad in The First Descendant. You can play solo, but some parts of the game can prove too difficult to manage on your own.
