The Crystallization Catalyst is one of the most important enhancement materials in The First Descendant. Using this item allows players to assign or change the Module Socket Type on their Descendant or Weapon. Moreover, to use Crystallization Catalyst, the Descendant must be on the max level 40, and using this will bring it back down to Level 1. This also goes for Weapon Proficiency, so choose wisely when to do this process. To upgrade everything to a maximum and create a truly unstoppable Descendant takes a lot of Crystallization Catalysts.
How to Get and Use Crystallization Catalyst in The First Descendant
To research the Crystallization Catalyst, players will first have to gather all the ingredients necessary. Once they have everything, interact with Anais in Albion to start the research process. However, this is a late-game item, and acquiring everything needed will take some time, plus 7 hours and 30 minutes for research. Below is a recipe for Crystallization Catalyst with all the materials needed:
- Murky Energy Residue x8
- Micromolecule Biogel x22
- Mixed Energy Residue x 8
- Advanced Neural Circuit x18
- Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint x1
How to use Crystallization Catalyst in The First Descendant
After players have researched Crystallization Catalyst they can then use it on a Descendant or a weapon Module Slot. However, the Crystallization Catalyst is not easily acquired, and unless it is bought using Caliber, it takes time to grind everything necessary. So before players use one, they should consider the weapon or Descendant to receive one.
How to Use Crystallization Catalyst on a Descendant:
- Open the Descendant Module tab from the Inventory.
- Click on the Module Additional Settings button.
- In the new menu, select Assign Module Socket Type.
- On the lower left side of the screen, under Select Module Socket Type, choose a symbol you wish to assign.
- Then click on the socket location in Selec Module Type.
- Hold down the Apply Socket Type button located at the bottom right side to confirm the selection.

- On the lower left side of the screen, under Select Module Socket Type, choose a symbol you wish to assign.
- Then click on the socket location in Selec Module Type.

Everything Needed to Research Crystallization Catalyst
To create Crystallization Catalyst players will have to gather specific materials first. There is also an option to purchase these materials using premium in-game currency, and it costs 300 Caliber to buy one thing from the list. Alternatively, players can farm the materials themselves, this will take time, but it can also provide additional things and farm XP.
How to get Murky Energy Residue
Murky Energy Residue is usually dropped by elite Vulgus enemies, which are spawned halfway through the missions. This means that every mission has the potential to reward players with Murky Energy Residue. However, The Forgottense mission in the Restricted Zone in the Sterile Land area is the best way to farm this material.
How to get Micromolecule Biogel
Next, we are going to the Echo Swamp area, which is home to two missions that are the best way to farm Micromolecule Biogel. Along with both of these missions being located in the same area, both are Vulgus Strategic Outpost missions. Moreover, missions are very close, which makes farming Micromolecule Biogel even easier, with players being able to hop from one to another quickly. Both missions are the same and require players to summon and defeat a powerful monster that will drop Micromolecule Biogel.
How to get Mixed Energy Residue
There are two ways to get Mixed Energy Residue in The First Descendant. Firstly, players can use the character Enzo and go on a hunt for Encrypted Vaults. Enzo’s ability Shoot Support, gives him an edge over other Descendants when it comes to opening Encrypted Vaults and increases their rewards. The best Encrypted Vault location for farming Mixed Energy Residue is in the Vermillion Waste zone of the Agna Desert area.
Additionally, there is another way to farm Mixed Energy Residue, and it is also in Vermilion Waste. In the mission Baggage Transport Base, every enemy has a chance to drop this material. However, keep in mind, that this drop rate is quite smaller compared to the Enzo Encrypted Vault farm.
How to Get Advanced Neural Circuit
The best location to farm Advanced Neural Circuit is the Border Line of Truth mission in the White-night Gulch area. With a high-level Descendant, this mission can be done in under two minutes, giving players plenty of time to repeat. Additionally, one run of this mission can provide 4-5 Advanced Neural Circuits.
How to Get Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint
Getting the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint requires more work because it needs two separate things to be done first. To get the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint, players must collect a corresponding Amorphous Material Pattern for the Void Boss they have to beat to get a Blueprint. Luckily, there is a way to do this relatively easily.
Players can do a The Chapel mission in the Derilict Covert part of the Echo Swamp area to get the Amorphous Material Pattern 023. This pattern can be used after players do a Void Intercept Battle and defeat a Dead Bride Collosi. Once the mission is done, Amorphous Material Pattern 023 gives a 15% chance to drop the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint.
