On July 9, The First Descendant developers surprised their player base with a very special announcement proving they had been listening. Since the release, The First Descendant players have been requesting a new feature to be added to the hard mode. Apparently, this feature is on its way.
The Developers Announced a New Feature is Being Added to the Hard Mode
On the official The First Descendant X account, the developers revealed that matchmaking is coming to the hard mode. The statement read: “We’re preparing a hotfix that includes matchmaking for public Infiltration Operation (Dungeon) on Hard Mode. We’ll update as soon as possible, so please stay tuned!“.
If you’re a part of The First Descendant community, you know that this is something that everyone was asking for. This announcement is a gesture of the devs’ goodwill and it’s very encouraging to know they listen to the players. It’s also a way of building trust because doing something like this at the very beginning offers a strong base for the future.
The First Descendant Players Offer Praise and Constructive Criticism
The community had great first reactions to this new feature being added to the hard mode in The First Descendant. One player, ryderjj89, noted: “Crazy that we’ve been talking about it on here for a couple of days. I just posted to them on X and then saw that they are adding it. This is a W the likes of which we’ve never seen when it comes to listening to your players”.
Another player, hambelperhurger, said: “Holy s**t, that was fast, if they keep this up I might respect Nexon”. A Redditor, khiafin, agreed: “It’s encouraging to see dev are listening, This doesn’t look like an average Nexon game”.
WanderWut raved: “YES! Idk about you guys but it seems like the devs are listening. This is all happening less than a week into the game. All we need now are colors that aren’t one-time uses and we’re good”. Of course, the dye scandal had to be mentioned, and, honestly, it should be.
Now, was this feature added just to make the game better? Well, some players doubt Nexon’s intentions. Hawkectid said: “I mean, they have a potential money-making machine for years to come. I really hope they take this seriously and listen to feedback and improve the weak areas of the game”.
We’d say that this is a step in the right direction for Nexon. It isn’t easy getting rid of a bad reputation, but you have to start somewhere, right? Probably the best thing that they can do right now is to listen to their player base. We’ll all have to wait and see. In the meantime let’s enjoy the game and the new feature as much as possible.
