The First Descendant Devs Tease Ines’ Skills and Future Updates

We just had our latest devtalk livestream. It served as an intro to Update 1.2.1 where the devs (and the absolutely favorite English interpreter) talked about all the changes. The biggest one was adding the Support Infiltration feature, allowing you to mix up the missions you are playing while retaining the rewards you want, and the changes to Void Vessel reward chests. Next, they talked about what’s in store in the near future. And the devs teased Ines’ Skills and also what to expect in future updates.

Sneak Peek Into Ines Raya’s Skills

When Season 2 went live, everyone was asking about Ines. She’s a character that will become playable in the future, on January 16 to be exact, and currently serves as a “quest giver”. She quickly conquered the hearts and minds of the fans and everyone was asking for some more info on her.

From what we know of Ines is that she’s a member of H.O.U.N.D. (specialists for Void Vessels) and that she’s an Electric Arche Descendant, who focuses on AoE damage. Well, Bunny already does that pretty well, so we are curious about what path Ines will take. And on the devstream, we got a glimpse of one of her Skills.

From what we can tell, she can use these electrical “nodes” (looking a lot like Tesla coils) spread out over a wide area, which will electrocute nearby enemies, in a very flashy manner. From what the devs said, these electrical strikes will be able to Crit, dealing even more damage, as usual. Nothing much at the moment, besides the image, but more info will be available as we get closer to January 16. As expected, you can see a lot of comments from the players saying she’s a Sith and uses Force Lightning. Some fans pointed out that Descendants with the same Arche type are still very visually distinctive, at least in color. Bunny’s electricity is blue, while Ines’ is more of a purple color.

Update 1.2.2

The devs revealed that the next update will go live in a week, on December 19. They said that they will be:

  • Adding the option for Private operations in Special Operations (Kuiper Mines, Defenses, etc),
  • Adding “Quick Turn” (allowing players to quickly turn 180 degrees, especially useful controller-users),
  • Fix something they call “Coyote Time Issue” (most definitely a reference to Wile E. Coyote, this issue refers to players occasionally not being able to double jump),
  • Outpost rewards will be obtainable in Infiltrations,
  • Finally fix the Reactors so we can no longer get Reactors with mismatching attributes
  • And more…

This will be the last update for this year, 2024. Devs said that they wanted to do one more this year, but it is the time of holidays and vacations so they have to wait until everyone gets back.

Update 1.2.3.

For the update after 1.2.2, the devs only said it is scheduled for January 7. Unfortunately, that is the only info they provided.

We’ll most definitely get more info in the upcoming updates. These dev livestreams have become very popular, and we can expect another one in early January, right before the next big update.
