In online PvP mode, you’ll choose your role as either a member of the Slaughter family, including the iconic killer, Leatherface, or one of their victims in a bloody free-for-all. Given the new title’s multiplayer format, it’s no surprise it’s set to release across virtually all platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. However, there is just one caveat when it comes to compatibility with last-gen consoles — and it looks like bad news.
Does Texas Chain Saw Massacre Have Cross-Platform Support?
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is set to release across current ninth-generation and last-gen platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
However, Gun Interactive’s upcoming game rendition of the 70s horror flick slashes multiplayer support with last-gen consoles, rubbing salt in the wounds of gamers who are now being given fewer and fewer new game releases. Moreover, the Sumo Digital game will not be released on Nintendo Switch at the time of writing.
If the objective of the asymmetrical horror game wasn’t to challenge other players in opposing victim and family roles, then the news might not be so bad. However, the 3v4 gameplay experience heavily relies on its corresponding PvP game mode, putting Xbox One and PS4 players in a tight spot nearing its release this week.
Does Texas Chain Saw Massacre Support Crossplay Settings?
Fans will be glad to know that the Texas Chain Saw Massacre game does support crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at launch. Those who are playing on these supported platforms will have the option to matchmake with other players across current-gen consoles and platforms on day one, which is great news. Each platform will have specific settings to disable and enable crossplay, which can be accessed through the in-game Options menu.
Unfortunately, this excludes eighth-generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One. While you’ll still be able to play Texas Chain Saw Massacre in online PvP on these systems, you won’t be able to matchmake with players on ninth-gen consoles or PC.
Moreover, PS4 and Xbox One gamers cannot play against each other, severely limiting matchmaking options. To be clear, this means those on Xbox One can only matchmake with other Xbox One gamers, while PS4 players can only team up with others on PS4.
