Knowing how and when to move out of the way or parry the attack will save your skin. Keep reading to see how to parry and dodge in Stellar Blade.
Stellar Blade has just been released. It is a sci-fi adventure game, set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, where the protagonist Eva is fighting against the Naytibas. With a couple of supporting characters, Eva will have to fight Naytibas, mutated monsters, and other hostile survivors. The game’s combat system relies on delivering damage with blades and guns and avoiding damage by parrying and dodging. Knowing how to do just that is crucial for survival in the game. So, read on to learn how to parry and dodge in the Stellar Blade.
Stellar Blade: How to Parry
Parrying is crucial for your survival in Stellar Blade, so here’s how to do it. The L1 button is used for both the Guard and Parry actions. If you hold the L1 button, you will enter the Guard “stance”. While hit in the Guard stance, you’ll only take a tiny amount of damage (“chip damage”).
But, to Parry, you have to press the L1 button just before the enemy attack hits you. This will negate all damage and will reduce the enemy’s Balance points. Once their Balance is depleted, you can do a special attack that deals tons of damage. Performing a Parry will allow you to do a counter-attack that deals a lot of damage.
What is great about Guarding and Parrying is if you happen to press the button too early, you will still Guard against the attack, reducing incoming damage. Getting better at Parrying is vital to your success in Stellar Blade, especially if enemies launch multiple attacks (represented by a red flash).
How to Dodge in Stellar Blade
To Dodge in Stellar Blade, you have to press the Circle button on your PS controller. Dodging works almost the same as Parrying, ie, you have to time the Dodge right before being hit. If you time it just right, you will Dodge out of the way without taking damage, and it allows you to perform a powerful counter attack.
It seems that the game leans more towards Parrying than Dodging, but some powerful attacks cannot be Parried, so learning how to Dodge is highly recommended.
