Will South Park: Snow Day Be Released on PS4?
It looks like South Park: Snow Day won’t be arriving on last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One. We haven’t received any word yet from THQ Nordic on an extended release, which doesn’t necessarily mean all hope is lost. That said, it’s not likely that we’ll hear more on the matter, as developers are leaning into current-gen exclusive releases. You can get the action-adventure game based on the hit comedy series on current-gen systems and PC, though many are shocked that this includes the Nintendo Switch.
Some fans have taken to Reddit to voice their frustrations, pointing out the clear difference in power among Snow Day’s release platforms. One user noted that Switch optimization wouldn’t require “any more effort” than optimizing the game for PS4, supporting the statement by adding that Sony’s last-gen console remains the most popular system among gamers to date.
While there’s certainly some truth there, the transition to newer hardware is inevitable, despite concerns regarding the Switch’s capabilities. Others have defended Snow Day’s current-gen exclusive release, citing the PS5’s growing life span as a valid reason to leave older systems in the past.
