Wondering how to start the next Charizard Tera Raid Event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? You’re not alone. Stick around for start times and how to encounter the Generation I starter.
The fan-favorite Kanto starter, Charizard, is returning to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in a 7-Star Tera Raid Event this week. This marks the third time the Fire/Flying-type will make its way to Paldea, though those who completed the events of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC may also find wild Charmander in the Terarium to raise their very own Charizard by hand. The special event will take place this week, giving you a chance to encounter Charizard with the Mightiest Mark and a formidable Dragon Tera Type. Let’s break down the start and end dates of the event and how to participate in Scarlet and Violet.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Charizard Tera Raid Start Date in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
This month, you can challenge the Mightiest Mark Charizard in a 7-Star Tera Raid Event taking place from Tuesday, March 12 to Sunday, March 17 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Tera Raid will commence at 5 pm PDT / 8 pm EDT on day one and end at the same time on the final day of the event.
Charizard has been featured in several events following the drop of the Indigo Disk DLC in December of 2023. However, those who have managed to defeat and catch the Mightiest Mark starter in the past will not be able to catch another when the next 7-Star Tera Raid Event begins this week. Even so, you can still team up with friends and participate in the battle for a unique challenge.
How to Start Charizard Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
In order to start the Charizard Tera Raid Event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on March 12, there are a few tasks you’ll need to cross off your to-do list. To participate, be sure to complete the following beforehand:
- Beat the main story of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
- Win the Academy Ace Tournament
- Download the latest Poké Portal News from the main menu
- Look for a pillar of light coming from a black Tera Raid Crystal
How Do You Encounter Charizard in Tera Raids?
You can encounter Charizard in select Tera Raids as they’re brought to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The next event begins on March 12, providing an opportunity to catch this Fire/Flying-type with the Mightiest Mark and a Dragon Tera Type.
During the event window, you’ll find this Pokémon in raids marked by shining black Tera Crystals, which you’ll begin to see scattered throughout Paldea following completion of the main game and post-game events.
Is Charizard Coming Back to Scarlet and Violet?
Charizard has now been featured in a handful of Tera Raid Events since the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet came to a close last year. While this might suggest the Kanto starter will return for yet another round of 7-Star Tera Raids, our adventure in Paldea is bound to end at some point. With this in mind, it’s tough to say just yet whether Charizard will come back to the games in the future. Although, it’s certainly a possibility.
In the meantime, we’ll need to await more details as they’re announced by The Pokémon Company. For more on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, check out some other guides from our team:
