With each installment to the long-standing Pokémon franchise, more monsters are added to the in-game Pokédex, which has grown substantially in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. While the Paldea region is home to a long list of all-new Pokémon to catch, we now have access to Pokémon HOME, allowing us to transfer our partners from previous titles to the new entries. After breeding Pokémon and completing the Pokédex, however, many trainers have filled their PC boxes. So, how do you get more boxes in Scarlet and Violet?
The answer is much simpler than you’d think. Here’s what you need to know to add more boxes to your PC and up your storage space in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
- If you purchase either the physical or digital double pack, you will receive a 200 Poké Ball bonus via download codes* that can be entered in the Mystery Gift** feature in your game!
- The packaged version of the double pack includes 1 physical Pokémon Scarlet game and 1 physical Pokémon Violet game
- Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities
- Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea
- English (Subtitle)
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
How to Get 32 PC Boxes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
You’ll need to place Pokémon in each of the eight original PC boxes to get more boxes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To be clear, you don’t need to fill every box to do this. Rather, you’ll just need to place at least one Pokémon in each, then close out the PC and return to find more have been added. This can be done until you reach a total of 32 storage boxes, providing a capacity of a whopping 960 Pokémon.
This may seem like an inordinate amount of storage space at first, given that each box holds 30 Pokémon. However, many trainers utilize the PC to hold each of the Pokémon they’ve caught to fill out their Pokédex while others need to box duplicates of the monsters they’ve bred. In any case, it’s not unheard of to run out of storage boxes entirely. At that point, releasing Pokémon is a viable option to make room.
Whatever the circumstances, you’ll probably need to get some Spring cleaning done in your PC if you hope to transfer Pokémon from previous titles and save files now that Pokémon HOME is compatible with Scarlet and Violet. Of course, this welcome addition also allows you to move Pokémon from your in-game PC to the app, saving you from turning out the Pokémon you’ve caught and bred.
