Playstation Silent Hill 2 remake key art of James walking through town with an image of his wife in the sky

The remake of the insanely popular Silent Hill 2 is almost upon us. For the record, the original Silent Hill 2 was released all the way back in 2001 for PlayStation 2. The story revolves around James Sunderland, a widower who receives a letter from his late wife, asking him to visit her in the titular town of Silent Hill. It is considered one of the best horror games of all time, with an 89/100 score on Metacritic. A film adaptation for the game is in the works, titled “Return to Silent Hill”, set to release in 2024.

In October 2022, Bloober Team announced that they would be doing a remake of the popular game. It is set to release on October 8, 2024, so in about a week, horror fans everywhere will be able to enjoy this remake.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Preload and Download Size

The official release is just a couple of days away so it’s natural that fans want to know when the preload starts and how much storage space will Silent Hill 2 Remake require. Thankfully, we managed to get ahold of that info. According to PlayStation Game Size on X, the SH2 Remake will require about 50GB free on your disk drive. As for the preload:

  • Standard 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ($69.99)
    • Pre-Load: October 6 – Midnight
    • Release: October 8 – Midnight
  • Deluxe 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ($79.99)
    • Pre-Load: October 4 – Midnight
    • Release: October 6 – Midnight

As you can see, those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of Silent Hill 2 Remake will be able to experience the game two days before those who got the Standard Edition.

Soundtrack Preview

There’s more. As for the soundtrack for the game, composer Akira Yamaoka said in an interview for Famitsu that there are about nine hours of background music made for the Silent Hill 2 Remake. The only “problem” is how to condense that into a functioning soundtrack for the game.

On that note, Konami and the Silent Hill team released a soundtrack preview on YouTube. It has about 94 different tracks, which last for about 45 minutes. Again, these are only the previews, the “teasers” for the full soundtrack.

All in all, this is a great time to be a Silent Hill fan. We hope that the remake will also have the coveted “PS5 Pro Supported” tag.
