Monster Hunter Wilds is the upcoming action-adventure game, developed and published by Capcom. It is a sequel to the popular Monster Hunter: World from 2018. The game follows in its predecessor’s footsteps, where you play as Hunter, tracking down and, well, hunting monsters. It’s in the name.

The idea of the dev team is to create a living and breathing ecosystem, to make the Wilds as believable as possible. “Players can use the changing environment to their advantage, but the effects of their actions cannot be undone even if they quit the game or return to the settlement.” The official release is set for February 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

Possible 60 FPS

Speaking of platforms, rumors state that Monster Hunter Wilds will be able to run on 60FPS on regular PS5. This is based on a watch party video from the Tokyo Game Show 2024, showing the Monster Hunter community team playing the game. The players are exploring Scarlet Forest, riding mounts, and fighting various monsters, and all the while the game seems to be running pretty smoothly. One fan, named IDONTGIVEASHISH on Reddit, stated: “Unlike the previous demo, the game seems to be running pretty well. Not a locked 60 of course, but much better than Dragon’s Dogma 2 for example. The image quality is impossible to judge due to video compression.“

This is completely opposite to previous rumors that stated that MHW will not have a performance mode and will only run on 30FPS. Thankfully, the video shows otherwise. “They managed to make DD2 run much better so hopefully Wilds runs well from the beginning,” said Maximum-Zekk.

It is too early to be sure about anything concerning Monster Hunter Wilds, but if nothing, this footage proves that the game will run better than 30FPS. As one player said: “Game performance is so hard to judge before launch. Playable demos are unfinished, so press get it at the bare minimum presentable state or completely preconstructed for showing off by devs and thus the best possible presentation.” For this one, we think it is more of the former, as we can see the players exploring some large areas of the game world. The game can only be better upon release.
