With almost a month left until the full release, the amount of hype around Black Ops 6 is quite baffling. The players were extremely happy with the beta. The fact that the devs decided against allowing early access briefly soured the players’ expectations. Thankfully, that was only temporary, and they were back to praising many aspects of the game. Aside from map expectations, the current hot topic among Call of Duty players is which ’90s skins should they expect in Black Ops 6.

Which Pop-Culture References From the ’90s Should Be in Black Ops 6?

For those of you who are just getting acquainted with this game, it’s important to note that the Campaign will take place in the ’90s. So, ’90s skins would actually be historically accurate, rather than just another ununderstandable trend.

Among the many suggestions, the players wanted to see the skins from RoboCop, Die Hard, the Crow, Terminator, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Power Rangers, etc. Now, sure, one might say some of these might have had their debut in the ’80s, but keep in mind that pop culture changed a bit slower back then.

Other players, like yaboyfriendisadork, had even more nostalgic, and, well, unusual ideas. This player suggested: “F**k it, Seinfeld. I wanna run around as George Costanza. Frank Costanza announcer pack would also go so hard”.

Another player, ProfessionalFeed4691, noted: “Honestly I just want Ghostface back, but we could get different mask variations. Or some RoboCop would be cool. Uhm, Tupac lmao dr Dre”. Another unexpectedly popular demand was Kurt Cobain and the entire grunge scene of the ’90s.

Some Call of Duty Players Wish for More Realistic Skins

Of course, some Call of Duty players think there is no place for ’90s pop-culture skins in Black Ops 6. These players mostly hope to see some era-appropriate military uniforms in the game.

One player, TGC_YT, stated: “You know what skins I’d like to see in a ’90s first-person shooter? Maybe some various realistic military uniforms from the ’90s”. Honestly, that woodland camo would make for a great skin.

However, some players pointed out what the biggest problem was. One of them, spzm, noted: “The problem is that CoD has NO OWN IDENTITY. Do they want to be arcade or do they want to be realistic and gritty? They want to appeal to everybody. But when you want to please everybody, you will please NOBODY”.

It isn’t hard to pinpoint exactly what do the developers wish to accomplish with the variety they offer. We suppose that the idea is that there is something for everybody, so the players would just want to try the game out and get hooked. Since the beta received glowing reviews, their strategy seems to be working. See you in-game on October 25.
