Insider Says Dark Souls 3 is Getting a Remaster, Disappointing Bloodborne Fans

Remastering seems to be the latest craze in the world of gaming. A lot of older games that proved successful are getting reworked, to improve their (most probably) outdated graphics and engines, so they can perform better on modern platforms. Arguably the best remaster we had is the Silent Hill 2 Remaster, which was so well done that it was praised by both critics and players alike, probably earning it a spot in this year’s GOTY nominees. As for Dark Souls, the first installment of this (now classic) game has received a full Remaster in 2018. The second part, Dark Souls 2, has received numerous updates, but not a full-blown remaster as its predecessor did. And now, it looks like Dark Souls 3 Remaster is in the works (says insider), which really disappointed Bloodborne fans, who hoped that their favorite game was next in line.

Dark Souls 3 Remaster Allegedly in the Works, Says Insider

According to Nick Baker, a reliable insider and a Co-Founder of XboxEra, a Remaster for Dark Souls 3 is in the works. “I did get a little bit more than that but I’m not allowed to pass that on.” said Nick in The XboxEra Podcast, where he revealed this info.

Dark Souls 3 was originally released in 2016. Despite its “age”, it still looks and feels like a modern game, so it is a bit of a surprise that it is getting a Remaster (and before Bloodborne). However, the game could do with some resolution and FPS boosts.

Bloodborne Fans Let Down

Bloodborne is also a souls-like game, released for PS4 in 2015. The fans consider it superior to Dark Souls, with more engaging combat and a better general atmosphere, so they hoped that the remasters would follow the chronological order of releases (Bloodborne was released after Dark Souls 2 but before Dark Souls 3).

The theory with which the majority agrees is that it’s up to the publishers. Both of these franchises are developed by FromSoftware, but Dark Souls is published by Bandai Namco, while Bloodborne is published by Sony. “The fans are gonna be so upset that of all Fromsoft games to remaster they remaster anything besides Bloodborne lol” said SilverKry, and “At this rate we will get a Sekiro remaster before a Bloodborne 60fps patch even” added Game4life101. We truly hope that Sony will give the order to remaster Bloodborne in the near future, as this is getting ridiculous.
