Excited about Payday 3, but running into a few hiccups? Don’t fret; the game’s developers are on it. We’ve got the scoop on the known issues in Payday 3 across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, along with the expected fix date.
What Are the Known Issues in Payday 3?
Payday 3 is off to a strong start, but a handful of minor issues have cropped up, and the developers are diligently addressing them. While these aren’t game-breakers, it’s good to be in the know. Here’s a rundown of the known Payday 3 issues:
- Missing Audio in Story Videos (PlayStation 5): Some story videos on the PlayStation 5 are missing audio.
- Crashes in Full Steam Lobbies (PC): Attempting to join a full lobby via Steam on PC may result in a crash.
- User Input Halt (Xbox Series X/S): After blocking a player through the social screen on Xbox Series X/S, user input may stop working.
- Preset Weapons Display Glitch: Preset weapons you can’t afford might appear as “owned” when you purchase a base weapon. A simple game restart will fix this.
- Duplicate Challenge Display: Some challenges may appear twice on the result screen.
- Connection Error After Idle Time: If the game is left idle for around 15 minutes, players may encounter a “connection error.” Simply press “Return to main menu” to resolve this.
- Audio Oddity with Retina Scanner: When using the retina scanner, both “Access denied” and “Access granted” audio play, even with the correct NPC.
- When solo matchmaking, the “Ready” button is greyed out and can’t be clicked to start the mission. Sometimes it resolves itself after 10-15 seconds, but sometimes you have to go “Back” and restart the lobby.
- It doesn’t resolve if you try selecting or deselecting any “favours”, or when changing loadouts.
- Rock the Cradle heist: VIP club bouncers can sometimes bug out and will not let you in even if you have the VIP pass.
- Sometimes they “fix” if you go out and back in again. But sometimes you have to abandon the mission and start all over again. We’ve created a guide on how to fix the issue.
Notably, some of these Payday 3 issues are platform-specific, and not all players will encounter them. Some issues are graphics-related, other crashing issues and matchmaking issues will completely depend on what platform you are accessing Payday 3 through. There’s also a chance the game’s servers have gone offline due to heavy traffic.

- In PAYDAY 3 the choice is put in the hands of the players, deciding how to tackle the heist, whether you sneak or go in guns blazing, whether you let your hostages go or keep them around as pawns, whether you go at it alone or bring friends.
- Thrive in Co-op – Not just anyone is worthy of standing at your side for something as important as a heist. Likewise, PAYDAY 3 is best enjoyed with close friends in mind, whether you bring them from your childhood or make them along the road.

When Will the First Payday 3 Update Arrive?
The good news is that developer Starbreeze Studios is on the case and aims to fix these known issues in the first post-launch patch. Mark your calendars for October 5, 2023. This is when the first Payday 3 update is expected to go live.
