Mortal Kombat 1 was just announced by publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer NetherRealm Studios, and is the newest game in the franchise despite its name. It is technically Mortal Kombat 12, but the title reflects the rebooted universe that will be explored in the game.
The game will be launching for several platforms, but is the PS4 included in the list of supported consoles? The PS4 is coming up on its 10th anniversary later this year, and recently released games have chosen to pass over the console to better support the PS5. This guide will answer the question whether the game will be coming to PS4.
- Making a big return to mature presentation and classic 2D fighting engine
- Captivating storyline that rewrites the history of the Mortal Kombat Tournament
- State-of-the art technology showcasing stunning 3D environments and characters
- Re-invigorating the franchise with new multiplayer components
- First fighting game to be displayed in Stereoscopic 3D
Will Mortal Kombat 1 be on PS4?
Unfortunately, Mortal Kombat 1 will not be releasing for the PS4. The older Sony console was not listed in the supported platforms list on the game’s official website FAQ and there have been no details for the game coming to it post-launch.
The last Mortal Kombat entry in the franchise to appear on the PS4 was Mortal Kombat 11, the previous game, in 2019. While it is no surprise that the development studios have chosen to leave the past generation of consoles behind, it may be a bummer to those fans who have not been able to upgrade their console hardware.
Will Mortal Kombat 1 be on PS5?
Warner Bros. Games had announced the full list of platforms the game will be launching for when it releases worldwide on Sept. 19, 2023. Mortal Kombat 1 will appear on the PS5 at launch alongside the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game will be available to pre-order on PS5 both digitally or physically for the Standard Edition and Premium Edition. The console will also get the physical-only Kollector’s Edition, which comes packaged with a miniature statue, exclusive art prints, and a steel casebook.
