Genshin Impact is well known for being an incredibly portable game. Despite having a huge file size and requiring high hardware requirements from consoles such as the PS5 and PC, it continues to be available on iOS and Android. This has many people wondering if Genshin Impact is on the Nintendo Switch.
Today we will look at Genshin Impact’s current status on the Nintendo Switch and future plans.
Can You Play Genshin Impact on Switch?
Unfortunately, you cannot currently play Genshin Impact on the Nintendo Switch. Despite being available in small packages on mobile devices, the game has still not been ported over to this handheld console. A similar issue plagues the Steam Deck due to the lack of Steam support for Genshin Impact.
This is incredibly unfortunate for these handheld devices, as playing Genshin Impact on the Nintendo Switch while on the go would be highly convenient.
However, things are not as bleak as they may be for the Xbox and Steam Deck compared to the Nintendo Switch. In fact, Hoyoverse even made a trailer for Genshin Impact’s release on the Nintendo Switch.
When Is Genshin Impact Coming to Switch?
While we don’t have a concrete release date, the trailer for Genshin Impact’s Nintendo Switch release dates back to January 14, 2021. With so much time having passed and the game experiencing exponential growth, many are confused regarding this delay.
It’s most likely that the delay may be due to a lack of compatibility between the Nintendo Switch’s online features and Genshin Impact’s cross play.
Luckily we know for sure that the development and release have not been canceled, thanks to an interview with GoNintendo in May 2022. Hopefully we will get more details regarding the development of the Switch port in the future.
