If you are an avid Helldiver, this is the update you’ve been waiting for. After the latest update, the community was left in turmoil, to say the least. Aware of the players’ disappointment, the devs did the right thing and asked for feedback. After several days of waiting, the players received the first official response. The Game Director of Arrowhead addressed the issues with the Helldivers 2 update and offered the players an insight into the future plans.
The Game Director Responds to Helldivers’ Feedback on the Update
On August 14, the official Reddit account of Arrowhead shared a message from their Game Director, Mikael E. The message contains three equally important parts. In the first part, Mikael E talked about the latest update falling short.
They stated: “In short, we didn’t hit our target with the latest update. Some things we just didn’t get right – and other more fundamental inconsistencies in our approach to game balance and game direction. All of that is on us and we are going to own that. As many of you have pointed out, and we agree, what matters most now is action. Not talk”.
The second part of the message lists all the important changes that should be coming to Helldivers 2 in the next 60 days. Of course, the first thing listed was weapon balancing, as you might have expected. Other than that, the Flamethrower should be tweaked, the Chargers should be reworked, and excessive ragdolling should be prevented. The devs will rethink their approach to Primary weapons and prioritize bug fixes and game performance.
The third part addressed some long-term plans. The main idea is that the devs will ask the players for more feedback. That will be achieved through an opt-in beta-test environment and more regular surveys. Also, they will offer the players more insight into what they’re working on through better patch notes and more blog posts.
Finally, the Game Director thanked the Helldivers 2 community for their feedback and patience. Mikael E concluded: “We also want to thank you for your patience. We’re grateful that so many of you provided constructive feedback and suggestions on the latest update”.
Players Have Hope for the Future of Helldivers 2
It doesn’t happen very often that a Game Director addresses the players’ feedback on the update or offers plans for the future, so the Helldivers 2 community gave some credit to Arrowhead. At the time of writing this article, the message has amassed more than 7,7 thousand upvotes, proving that the players were very receptive. Of course, some of them offered more critiques, others expressed doubts.
DrVanKrugLore noted: “I appreciate that there is more communication with the community, but one thing that strikes me as odd is that the recent issue is as a previous post mentioned, like a time loop. This kind of feedback is not exactly new”.
Others asked for a more detailed timeline. The CEO of Arrowhead, Shams Jorjani, confirmed that the changes would be added gradually. The community’s idea was for the devs to inform the players on what to expect on a weekly level.
We’d say this is a big step in the right direction for Arrowhead. It’s very rare to see this kind of behavior in the gaming industry. Now, the only thing left to do is finish the Major Order while you wait for the Arrowhead developers to deliver on their promises. For Super Earth.
