Following the controversy of the Escalation of Freedom update, the latest Warbond arrived on August 8. The players were a bit cautious and didn’t get their hopes up, as they worried the Warbond might bring more nerfed weapons. Fortunately, so far, the Helldivers 2 community has discovered a new fan-favorite weapon in the Freedom’s Flame.
Helldivers 2 Rave About a New Primary Weapon
Immediately upon the release of the latest Warbond, players excitedly tested it out. The first reviews unanimously declare the Flam-66 Torcher as the best item in Freedom’s Flame. This Primary weapon is described as “A lightweight flamethrower shooting pressurized fuel through a nozzle into a roaring, open flame. Sounds safe. It isn’t. Watch where you’re standing”.
Guilty-Agency-857 noted: “Tested it out on a couple of missions, I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised! Overall, it is a viable Primary weapon if you are short on handling Chargers and your loadout does not contain any AT Stratagems or is currently on cooldown”.
Another devoted Helldiver confirmed this stance. WarCrab stated: “Very good primary. Outshines the Flamethrower, unfortunately, so hopefully they buff the Flamethrower a bit by giving it cleave or knock back or more range”.
Freedom’s Flame Might Be a Success
Aside from one great Primary weapon, Helldivers 2 players seem to like Freedom’s Flame. Even though the reviews might not be perfect as of yet, the players blame the disappointment over the update for the not-so-warm reception of the Warbond. A Redditor, the_voivode, said: “I think they’re all gonna be good. People are grieving right now so they’re not seeing things clearly”.
Another item from the Warbond received plenty of positive reviews so far. Fissure_211 shared: “The flame armor is great. 75% is a huge reduction in damage. You can push through being on fire for a good long while and can flat-out ignore it if you stim through it. Plus, it is an S-tier drip”.
The same player added: “I am not a fan of the recent fire changes either, but honestly, the Torcher is good. Go test it for yourself; don’t let the doom and gloom tell you it’s bad before trying it. So far I’m a fan. I obviously haven’t unlocked everything yet, but initial impressions are quite strong”.
We’d advise you to give the Warbond one more try if you’ve already given up on it. The same goes for the latest Escalation of Freedom update, you see, some buffs, intentional or not, made one group of weapons OP. So, the state of the game isn’t as bad as you might think.
