On October 26, the community will celebrate the first Liberty Day. Now, as you know, the expectations for this holiday are quite high. As the date gets closer, the players are becoming impatient, as everyone is waiting for something huge to happen. Of course, Liberty Day is the perfect period for Helldivers 2 players to reminisce and re-visit all their greatest battles. As you may have guessed, a couple of missions were dubbed as the most epic ones so far.
Helldivers Who Fought on Malevelon Creek Would Gladly Go Back for Liberty Day
Ah, Malevelon Creek. Probably the most epic battle to have occurred in the game so far. All the way back, at the end of March, Automatons showed up in the game. Thousands of players gave their lives on the Creek, as players began calling it the Space Vietnam.
Now, this battle was crucial in forming the Helldivers 2 community, as it was sort of a turning point. Many players ignored Major Orders just to go and liberate the Creek, and it was the first instance of players spontaneously uniting for a community goal. As a result, the devs decided to reward them and create the Malevelon Creek Memorial Day, on April 3.
Months later, players are still happily discussing these horrible events, and, unsurprisingly, many would return to the Creek and do it all over again. With the recent rumors, it seems that they might get that chance. One player, tacoboy221, noted: “You know I’ll be the first to drop back on the god-forsaken rock I ain’t having the clankers taken it back”.
Another player, bulletking71, added: “I hate fighting bots now, but I refuse to let them take the Creek back. Too many great heroes fell in that liberty damned mud hole. I will gladly go back just to relive my glory days. Try and get some of that vigor and grandeur that came with being a part of the liberation of the Creek”.
Meridia Is Second on the Greatest Battles List, According to Helldivers
Of course, the majority of Helldivers 2 players agreed that the second place on the impromptu list of the greatest battles so far should go to Meridia, especially since there were some expectations for Liberty Day regarding the infamous black hole. We wholeheartedly agree.
As you may remember, a Major Order in late May sent the players to Meridia to deal with the Terminid Supercolony. This ended in the ultimate victory on Meridia, the Supercolony was destroyed, and so was the planet. All that was left was the eerie black hole.
ArsenikMilk recalled: “I got nostalgia. That MO was epic as hell (even when the Bile Titans spawned on the drill, at least for me). Felt desperate, and evacuating was a real challenge. Glad that that’s not how every mission is like, but it was really great to mix things up”.
However, recently, the Gloom has been slowly approaching the black hole. So, the players are eager to learn what will happen. Will the Illuminate come through it? Or maybe it will cause the bugs to evolve in curious ways? Hopefully, this will be one of the storylines that unravels for Liberty Day.
Truth be told, with everything going on, we can’t wait to find out what the devs will come up with for Liberty Day. There are so many storylines ready to unravel, that the holiday will be epic. In the meantime, grab your trusty Purifier and spread some Managed Democracy. For Liberty and Super Earth.
