The insanely popular god-like rogue-lite is getting a direct sequel. Read this article to see the release date, platforms, and Editions for Hades 2.
After the first Hades game, many players were clamoring for a sequel. It’s been a while since the news that the sequel is actually in the works. Then, a surprise release of the Early Access for Hades 2 happened in May 2024. In the sequel, you play as Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld and the sister of the first game’s protagonist, Zagreus. Hades 2 retains the isometric roguelike gameplay of its prequel, with the focus being on magic and witchcraft. Now, let’s see when is the release date for Hades 2, on what platforms will it be playable, and what Editions will be available for purchase.
Release Date for Hades 2 and Early Access
The official full release date for Hades 2 is still unknown. The game was released to Early Access on May 6, 2024.
Thankfully, we have an official message from the devs, concerning the full release. “We expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024. It’s too early to say when our v1.0 launch will be until we have a good feel for Early Access development.”
The first Hades game was almost two years in Early Access. But Supergiant, the developers, now have a bigger team, so we can speculate that the full release of Hades will be somewhere at the beginning of 2025. However, that is pure conjecture and we’ll have to wait for more official info from the devs and publisher.
Hades 2 All Supported Release Platforms
Hades 2 Early Access is currently only available on PC, via Steam and Epic Games. It is also verified on the handheld Steam Deck.
It is planned to be playable both on PC, Mac, and consoles, but it is not specified which ones. We can assume, like the first Hades game, that the sequel will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. We expect that it will also be playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but, being a new game, there is no guarantee.
Hades 2 Available Editions
For now, Hades 2 is only available on PC, with the only Edition available being Early Access, priced at $29.99. Besides the game, you can also get the game’s soundtrack for $9.99.
There is no word whether Hades 2 will have additional Editions (like Premium, Deluxe, etc) or not. For comparison, the first Hades game only had a Standard Edition.
