What is Hades 2 Early Access Development Roadmap?

The popular Hades game from 2018 finally got a sequel. Supergiant Games, the developers behind the project, released Hades 2 Early Access on May 6. The sequel follows in its predecessor’s footsteps: an isometric roguelike game with awesome visuals, action, and an engaging story. Only this time you play as the sister of the original game’s protagonist, focusing more on magic and witchcraft. Of course, the game is heavily inspired by Greek mythology, and practically everything you’ll encounter has its ties to it. That being said, if you are wondering in what direction the game will develop, if there is a road map, you’re in luck. Keep reading to see the Hades 2 Early Access roadmap. 

Hades 2: Is There an Early Access Roadmap?

When you open the game, you can find the “Coming Up Next” button in the main menu, located in the bottom right corner. Once you click it, you will see the developers’ message about their plans for the game’s updates and development, aka, a roadmap.

While without any exact dates, the message gives us plenty of information on what to expect.

• A New Region: a brand-new region will be coming, unfortunately, there is no more info on it, what it is nor what it’s called.“We’re building a completely new area to explore, filled with more characters, foes, and other surprises. You can expect it to be introduced later this year.”
• Crossroads Update: Crossroads is a safe haven for the protagonist, where you can interact with other NPCs stationed there.“We’re working on a system that lets you unlock various cosmetic embellishments to make the Crossroads feel more like home.”
• New Weapon: the weapons in Hades 2 are more magical in nature (fitting, since Melinoë is a witch), but more weapons mean more options. “We have one more Main Weapon planned, along with new Weapon Aspects, so stay tuned for all-new ways to vanquish your foes.”

When to Expect the First Update for Hades 2?

According to the devs’ message, the first update should come later this year. “Our first Major Update will take some months following our initial launch.” Based on this info, we expect that the first updates will not come before Autumn 2024

A big Patch was recently released, but it just addressed a couple of balance issues, it’s not a Major Update as you’d expect.

When is Hades 2 Leaving Early Access?

Thankfully, we have some info on that. The developers said: “We expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024. It’s too early to say when our v1.0 launch will be until we have a good feel for Early Access development.” It’s not much, but according to this, we won’t see the full release until 2025.
