The first tidbits of information about Fortnite racing mode have already stirred the fanbase, but more info shows that it could be huge for the game. It’s been such a long time since Fortnite had a new game mode, or at least something different from the battle royale formula. The Creative 2.0 could’ve been that, but has met a lot of backlash from the community as time has gone by. However, with racing mode things are looking different. Players are genuinely excited for this game mode. With more and more info coming out, there’s plenty to be excited about.
Racing Mode Could Be Huge for Fortnite
The latest batch of information comes from HYPEX on Twitter, with even more details about the racing mode. According to the tweet, there are more indications that the racing mode in Fortnite could be akin to Mario Kart when it comes to mechanics.
According to leaks, the racing mode may be coming to Fortnite as early as Chapter 5. Hopefully, that means in Season 1. The full list of mechanics rumoured to feature in the racing mode includes the following:
- There will be “Demolition” when cars collide.
- There will be a new Drifting mechanic with a Drifting Boost.
- There will be a new Oversteer Mechanic.
- If you hold “Accelerate” during the countdown, you’ll gain an initial boost.
- You’ll be able to also use Rocket League’s Octane Vehicle.
- Car movement will be affected by environmental stuff like Mud and Ice.
- You can control your car mid-air and do tricks, and you can activate “Supersonic Speed”.
All of this sounds exciting, and admittedly, we breathed a sigh of relief when there was no mention of a “Turtle Shell” mechanic. To add to the wishlist, we’d love to see more mechanics and even a whole mode similar to Rocket League.
Of course, you can’t hide from the fact that the racing mode would be a perfect excuse for a Mario Kart collab. We’re sure there are plenty of fans who would love to see it too. Then there’s Cars collab, Rocket League obviously, Mad Max, and more. We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds. But it’s clear that racing is going to be huge for Fortnite when it releases.
