Final Fantasy XVI takes a different approach to exploration and visiting locations than in previous Final Fantasy games. The game will scale back the open-world of Final Fantasy 15 for a more focused experience with smaller areas. Despite the change, the game will contain the ability to fast travel between areas. This guide will show players how to fast travel in Final Fantasy XVI, how to unlock it, and other forms of travel the player can take in the game.

How Do You Fast Travel in Final Fantasy 16?

Fast traveling in Final Fantasy 16 is done in a similar way to other games that include the feature. Players who want to fast travel can bring up the map, move their cursor over to the location that they would want to go to, and confirm the selection by pressing and holding the X button.

Players will not have that many options to choose from near the beginning of the game, but the list will get bigger as players explore and visit more locations. Players will also not have to suffer by visiting every location on foot, as players will get to ride the bird-like Chocobos at some point during the game.

The ability to fast travel is not unlocked at the start of the game, and will require the player to play through the main story to get the feature. Players will have to finish the training session with Lord Commander, and then take on a goblin infestation mission followed by several cutscenes.

Players can use Animal Instinct if stuck on where to go, though should be fairly linear enough to not get lost. Once the protagonist Clive Rosfield and his companions are in his room, he will bring up the map and players will be able to fast travel to the new location.
