Have you been wondering what the Bloodmarked status means in Diablo 4? Look no further, we will explain everything that you need to know.
In case you didn’t know, Diablo IV has a PVP mechanic in addition to all the classic PVE action RPG layers. This allows players to duke it out in certain areas of the map to see who comes out on top in the Blizzard aRPG. The player-versus-player method of gameplay comes with its own set of currencies and rewards. So if you’ve passed through some of these areas, you may have noticed the Bloodmarked status pop up. Let’s explain what it is and how it works.
What Does Bloodmarked Mean in Diablo 4?
Bloodmarked is a status your character receives when you turn on Mark for Blood effect in Fields of Hatred. To clarify, you can’t become Bloodmarked outside the Fields of Hatred, which are Diablo 4’s PVP zones. In these zones, players can turn on PVP mode and engage in PVP gameplay. There are two such zones in the game, one in Kehjistan and one in Dry Steppes. They are denoted with red colouring on the world map, with hubs and waypoints in Denshar and Alzuuda. When you ride through them in World Tier III: Nightmare mode, you’ll get a Priority Quest that will guide you through the basics of PVP.
By becoming Bloodmarked, you are eligible to hunt and attack other players and to be attacked in turn. This rewards you with Seeds of Hatred, which you can purify into Red Dust. That is the currency you can use to buy PVP rewards from vendors in hubs within Fields of Hatred.
How to Activate Mark for Blood in Diablo 4
You can treat Fields of Hatred as a PVE zone to explore and fight in if you want. But that doesn’t protect you from Bloodmarked players. However, if you’re looking to dish out some pain yourself, you’ll have to activate the PVP status first. You will know it was successful after getting a red ring under your character.
To do that, bring up your emote wheel (by default ‘E’ on PC to bring up the action wheel) and select Mark for Blood. That’s all there is to it. Now you’ve Bloodmarked your character and will be able to attack others, and even unmarked players. That also means that other players will be able to attack you too, whether they’re Bloodmarked themselves or not.
To remove the Bloodmark from your character, you have to visit an Altar of Cleansing. After a short ritual cast, your PVP status will be removed. Don’t confuse them with the Altar of Extraction, where you perform the purification rituals for the Seeds of Hatred.
