How to Dezone in Cities Skylines 2 – Remove Construction Sites

Wondering how to dezone in Cities Skylines 2? No problem. We’ll go over everything you need to know about these mechanics.

In Cities Skylines 2, it’s your job to build a city from the ground up and focus on expanding as you reach new population milestones. To entice new residents and businesses to move in, you’ll need to create construction zones. While desirable areas will generally go fast, drawing in more revenue on top of building upgrades, others may sit unoccupied for quite some time. Because of this, you should carefully consider where you zone, though the dezone tool allows you to remove a construction site and set up elsewhere. Here’s how to remove a construction site in Cities Skylines 2.

How to Remove a Construction Zone in Cities Skylines 2

In the original Cities Skylines title, players had to rely on a dezone feature to remove construction areas. However, Cities Skylines 2 offers up a slightly different mechanic, which is accessible within Zone Mode. If you want to de-zone a construction area, simply hover over the location and hold the right button on your mouse or the Y button using an Xbox controller.

You can remove an entire area by selecting the Fill option from the Tool Mode box. This is denoted by a paint bucket icon. When this is done, the corresponding area will be cleared of its highlight, allowing you to build atop it once again. However, you can also de-zone individual tiles by using the Marquee and Paint options, located next to the Fill button. To remove a few tiles at once, hold and drag the selected surface area. Bear in mind that any buildings within the selected areas will be emptied.

Using the Bulldozer to Dezone

It is entirely possible to use the bulldozer tool in Cities Skylines 2, but unnecessary when it comes to dezoning. It is one of the perks that changed between the first game and its sequel. You can simply use the above-mentioned right-click method of dezoning, and any structures that have already been built will be deconstructed in compliance with the new zoning structure.
