As the story of Baldur’s Gate 3 progresses well into Act 3, you will come across a peculiar key with a flower motif on it. While the game doesn’t give you any hints as to what you’re supposed to do with it, it plays a key role in furthering the “Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders” quest. This side quest might be confusing since you have nothing to go on, but this article should serve as a guide, leading to where you need to go with the Flower Key.
How to Use the Flower Key to Unlock the Secret Passage in Baldur’s Gate 3
After acquiring the Flower Key, you must head towards Flaygo’s Flophouse. This is a little inn located opposite the South Span of Wyrm’s Crossing Waypoint. Over there, head up the stairs and then take the ladder to the attic. Inside, you’ll see a wardrobe blocking a secret passageway; use the Flower Key to unlock this wardrobe and venture ahead.
Inside the secret room, you’ll find the Bloodstained Parchment on a desk that is key to solving the mystery behind the Open Hand Temple murder case in Baldur’s Gate 3. Once you have the Parchment, take it to the Sharess’ Caress and hand it over to Inspector Valeria to complete the quest.

Where to Find the Flower Key
This Act 3 quest starts with the death of Father Lorgan in Rivington. When you hear of this from Valeria, you receive the “Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders” quest that leads you to the basement beneath the Open Hand temple.
Once there, travel towards the spot where Father Lorgan was murdered. Go to the kitchen area on the far end of the temple to find a hidden hatch on the floor. Going into the hatch, you’ll find yourself in a room with double doors. Finally, when you go through these doors into a cave, you’ll see it’s infested with doppelgangers and shape-shifters.
Clear all the enemies that get in your way, and find Panela Lumpensick’s corpse. Search her, and she will have the Flower Key on her body. Once you’ve gotten the key, you can progress in this side quest.
Talking to Inspector Valeria
The last thing you have to do with the evidence you find in the secret room is to take it to Inspector Valeria. After coming out of the hidden passageway in Flaygo’s Flophouse, you can find the Inspector at Sharess’ Caress. Talk to him with all the evidence you found, and this will complete your side quest.
However, this only thickens the plot of all the murders and reveals a deeper plot in Baldur’s Gate 3. It involves greater evils like Bhaal and the Absolute. Finishing this quest opens up your storyline to a bigger plot that progresses once you reach Baldur’s Gate.
