Stuck with dust and gore all over and want to clean your character’s face for the big cutscene in Baldur’s Gate 3? Here are several methods you can use to improve your party’s hygiene.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players can do everything from fighting ogres to rescuing princesses, but the one thing many don’t do is clean their faces. As you embark on your willful adventures, you’ll soon realize how filthy your face gets once you get back to town. While this doesn’t directly impact your stats in-game, no one wants a character that looks like they rolled around in mud. For your ease, we’ve made a short guide on how you can clean your face efficiently.
All Methods to Clean Your Face in Baldur’s Gate 3
The simplest way to clean your face in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to just take a short rest. This will tidy up your party members and restore some health and abilities. Other options include taking long rests, using a bottle of water, casting a Create/Destroy Water spell, stepping inside a body of water, or acquiring and using a Reverse Rain Cloak.
Now, why did we mention all these other methods when taking a short rest is fast and gets the job done? That’s because each player only has two available short rests per day. Once you use these up, you can only use long rests, and those take up a lot of unnecessary time. Plus, you need short rests for more important things other than just cleaning yourself up.
If you’re wondering how to use all these methods, we’ll explain them one by one so you don’t need to go through the trial-and-error bit.
Cleaning Face With Short/Long Rests
If you don’t want to put in the effort to find water nearby, you can always use one of your short rests to tidy yourself up. To take a short rest:
- On the right side hotbar UI, you’ll see a campfire icon. Press it.
- You’ll see the option to take a short or long rest. Select short rest.
- The game will go into a short animation and give you a 15-minute in-game time break.
- After the short rest is complete, you’ll be spotless and ready to go.
We’ve mentioned this before, but it is very important to remember that you only have two short rests per day. If you use them up, you won’t be able to take another one until the next day in-game.
Cleaning Face With Water
Now, all four of the other methods we mentioned include water in some form. Read on to understand how you can become spotless using a simple spell or even just a bottle of water.
If you see a body of water nearby, simply step into it to be totally cleaned up. The body of water should be of considerable size so that your character has to wade through it. You’ll notice it by your party getting a debuff that slows their movement. Both Acts 1 and 3 have large areas of beaches nearby.
You can also throw a bottle of water at your feet. This is great for travelling since you won’t always have other water sources at hand. Casting a Create/Destroy Water spell should also work, although you’ll need a character that has learned this spell.
The Rain Dancer quarterstaff has this spell pre-equipped, but a character has to wield it to be able to cast the spell. The last method is using a Reverse Rain Cloak that keeps its wearer wet at all times. You can acquire the cloak from Akabi the Djin in the Circus area in Act 3 as a possible prize for spinning the wheel after paying 500 gold. Switch to it to get cleaned up, and then remember to switch back, because being always wet has many drawbacks when facing other spellcasters.
