XDefiant Executive Producer Clarifies the Latest Patch Confusion
On June 18, the new XDefiant patch dropped. The previous patch was released a week ago and it dealt with some minor problems. The developers said that this latest patch will deal with some more serious issues, such as hit reg. Now, the patch and the patch notes have arrived and the players have some concerns. The Executive Producer of XDefiant took it upon himself to explain all the changes in the latest patch.
The Executive Producer Offers an Explanation of the Patch Detail
The latest patch notes reveal: “Sped up the process of unlocking weapon attachments by lowering the amount of XP needed to level up your primary weapon, from 3,500 to 3,000, and your secondary weapon, from 1,500 to 1,000. This change is retroactive, meaning your existing weapon levels will likely be even higher now”.

While most of the players were super grateful that these changes were retroactive, which meant an instant boost, some were still unsatisfied. Roro inquired: “You [the developers] decrease weapon level XP but increase mastery levels what was the point even touching it in the first place? You just balanced it and then countered it with the same update”.
Thankfully, Mark Rubin, the EP, jumped in to clarify. He said: “Unlocking attachments faster was the primary concern. Unlocking the mastery skins should be something to spend time earning”. Which is a completely fair point. Rubin also posted a lengthy explanation in a separate post.

He stated: “Attachments for weapons affect gameplay. And people were unlocking attachments slower than we estimated. The faster leveling is in response to that”. Then, he added: “Weapon Mastery on the other hand does not affect gameplay and is supposed to be something special that shows off your dedication to a weapon. And so the re-balance of levels was in response to that”.
The EP also disclosed: “Work on netcode stops for nothing. The team working on that only works on that and nothing else. Different people do different things. So when we launch a change to progression for instance that doesn’t affect any work on netcode or hit reg”.

XDefiant Players Share Their Opinions on the Patch
Players were ambivalent about the patch notes, to say the least. Some praised them, others were disappointed. Ground_Effect212 noted: “Just got done playing for an hour with the new patch. I played 10 games. 8/10 games, were on point and the hits definitely registered which led to a very positive and pleasant gaming experience. In 2/10 games the hit reg was an absolute a** and the whole team suffered from it like it was pre-patch”.
Some players took the time to appreciate the developers. Level_Measurement749 said: “No matter how much s**t this game gets no one can argue these devs aren’t being as open and generous as they can. Love it”. JustAGamer14 added: “Wow the weapon XP being retroactive is actually quite generous”.
To be honest, we love how the XDefiant developers and the Executive Producer are transparent when talking about the latest patch, or any problem in general. Having the developers be open and hands-on means a lot for the development of a game. XDefiant started off with several big problems, but so far every problem has been addressed and at least partially fixed. We can’t wait to see what Season 1 will bring.
