Fuel is one of the most important things in Star Citizen, a lesson I learned the hard way. To prevent getting stuck in space, you’ll need to monitor your fuel levels and refuel as needed. Space is a massive place, so knowing where and how to refuel is important for any would-be space pilots!
How To Get Fuel in Star Citizen
You need to hail a station for refuel in Star Citizen. Keep an eye out for landing pads, as these typically indicate an area where you can refuel. If you do not hail before landing, your ship may get impounded, preventing you from refueling and getting back into space. Send out a hail, and land in the blue circle that appears. You can also use your scanner to locate these locations.
Rather than manually powering down their ships and getting out, you can access the mobiGlass by pressing the F1 key. Within the mobiGlass interface, located to the left of the Journal, you will find the Vehicle Maintenance Services button.
Ensure your ship is parked properly at the right pad, then press this button. This instantly refuels your quantum and hydrogen fuel, does repairs, and restocks ammunition. After completing the process, you are all set for lift-off.
There are more advanced refueling options, such as the ship pod management or mid-space refueling supply ships, but these should be avoided until you have more skill. The interface and instructions are similar, but this is more challenging.
How To Check Fuel Level in Star Citizen
Most ships have fuel gauge displays on or around the cockpit. Your ship can have quantum or hydrogen fuel, and the level of fuel remaining is shown by the gauge’s bars. In addition to this, audible warnings will sound as you get low on fuel. I highly recommend keeping an eye on your gauges and listening out for this warning bell, or you may find yourself floating in space with no fuel! Though with the right settings, being stranded in space may not be so bad.
