Is Redfall on Steam Deck?
One question that many gamers are asking is if Redfall, Arkane’s eerie co-op adventure, is compatible with Steam Deck. Now that the game is available on PC, it’s natural to wonder if it will run smoothly on Valve’s portable gaming device. I’ve put many hours into Redfall, and sadly it’s a downgrade from the normal epic experience that Arkane Studios usually offers.
To ensure that low frame rates or other issues don’t mar your on-the-go gaming experience, we’ve investigated whether playing Redfall on Steam Deck is truly a possibility without encountering compatibility problems.
Is Redfall Steam Deck Compatible?
Yes, Redfall is compatible with Steam Deck and has even been verified by Valve’s storefront. The green compatibility checkmark ensures that you won’t encounter any game-breaking bugs while playing on the go, but it doesn’t guarantee optimal performance.

You’ll need to tweak some settings to increase FPS in Redfall on Steam Deck. The game seems to default to medium options on Deck, but you can gain a few extra frames by scaling back visuals to low, adjusting the resolution to 720p, and enabling AMD FSR 2.1 upscaling. However, the resulting experience may not be ideal, as you’ll likely be limited to around 40fps when playing on Valve’s handheld device.
It’s worth adjusting the Deck’s refresh rate to 40Hz using the quick settings menu to align the screen with the expected frame rate. This change should improve battery life and provide a smoother experience when playing Redfall on Steam Deck. However, it won’t resolve the less-than-ideal visuals associated with lower settings. You’ll need to wait for future updates for those improvements, which may bring optimization enhancements.
Even after these tweaks, it’ll run, but it won’t look amazing, but it’ll run! Unlike Star Wars Jedi: Survivor!
