Ah Michael Cera....such a talentless actor. Same god damn role in every film, aka, himself. Totally ruined Scott Pilgrim for me.

Nitrowolf23461d ago

There's always Money in The Money Stand

marloc_x3461d ago

Lol..crowd's reaction at the mere mention of Mario Kart :)

-Foxtrot3461d ago

Wow what a waste of a bubble....hope it was worth it

Dudebro903461d ago

He's right...your a giant hater on many things for no reason. Truth hurts eh?

viperman2403461d ago

How is Foxtrot hating? I don't see any hate.

All I see is an opinion in which you disagree with, and many others do.

But he isn't hating at all.

I may be in the minority as well, but Michael Cera really does play the same person in almost all the films he has been in.

FPS_D3TH3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

Well when he shoves his opinion down the throats of people who disagree with him, even after he's already made his point in the first place, yeah, he's hating.

Nodoze3461d ago

Scott Pilgrim was classic! Sorry but disagree with you.

-Foxtrot3461d ago

I love Edgar Wright and love Scott Pilgrim but he ruined that role

It was Michael Cera vs the World not Scott Pilgrim

Relientk773461d ago (Edited 3461d ago )

I have seen Superbad, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Scott Pilgrim, and Youth in Revolt

and honestly he sorta does play the same character over and over, but he is good at it.

Foxtrot have u seen This is the End, Michael Cera has a hysterical cameo in it, and the movie is hilarious.

*edit: Foxtrot, you just reminded me I also so most of Year One on TV lol, it was meh

-Foxtrot3461d ago

How can you be good at something when you play yourself...of course your going to be "good" at it because it's just you. His films all feel and look the same and he just adds nothing to them. You could take him out of SuperBad and the film would still be hilarious.

People have a go at actors like Nicolas Cage for example for playing "himself" but to be honest he at least tries, Michael doesn't.

His character in Arrested Development
Superbad
Scott Pilgrim
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
Year One
Youth in Revolt
Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus
Juno

Plays himself in all of them, no change whats so ever.

I have seen This is the End, and I love it. Plus he gets impaled by a lamp post so that's good enough for me.

live2play3461d ago

It's funny though in every movie where he is another person he plays himself. In this is the end everyone is playing themselves but he is totally different

xtremeimport3461d ago

Do you know him?
How do you know he's playing "himself"?

A lot of comedians do this. Adam Sandler, Will Farrel, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogan, Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, Jonah Hill.

Thats their style of comedy, so why would they change it? Thats what makes them them.
You only see a difference when the role requires it. ie. jonah Hill in money ball/wolf, will farrell in "everything must go", Steve Carrell in "seeking a friend/dan in real life".

Maybe he hasn't been cast in a role that requires him to divert from his regular style.

-Foxtrot3461d ago

"Adam Sandler, Will Farrel, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogan, Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, Jonah Hill"

You obviously havent seen most of their films because they can do other roles. Almost every actor you've listed their have actually done films and acted totally different

Jonah Hill - Wolf of Wallstreet
Adam Sandler - Punch-Drunk Love
Will Farrel - Stranger Than Fiction or Everything Must Go.
Zach Galifianakis - It's Kind of a Funny Story
Steve Carrel - Foxcatcher
Eddie Murphy - The Golden Child compared to Nutty Professor

Those are just one or two examples I picked off the top of my head.

So yeah Michael hasn't done anything different

HollowZbankai3460d ago

i woulda mentioned Reign Over Me for Adam Sandler personally. also, what does other actors who play different roles sometimes in other movies have to do with himself? hes still young and eventually he will do different kinds of movies. we just dont know how he will turn out. that is a very biased point of view lol

Harold_Finch3461d ago

Bet you didn't know he was acting that scene on the video though did you?

Can't be that talentless....

-Foxtrot3461d ago

I kind of did...soooooooooo

Concertoine3461d ago (Edited 3461d ago )

What do you mean by playing himself? Do you know Michael Cera lol? Most actors, especially comedic ones, are usually totally different in real life. He might play a lot of similar roles but so does Kevin Smith, Jack Black, a ton of others.

Doesnt make him a bad actor, just not a blatantly versatile one. People like Danny Trejo or Bill Murray were typecast in a certain role until a movie came along that gave them a chance to display a wider range of talent.

Just saying, very insincere to describe someone as talentless. He clearly has a passion for what he does, and i can commend even an actor/actress i dont like for doing something they love.

-Foxtrot3461d ago

"What do you mean by playing himself?"

Are you guys...I mean....jesus

It doesn't actually mean "himself" as in who he is, I mean the first role he was in you might of thought "Oh he's playing this role" then couple of films later "Oh he's playing the same character, himself". People say the same line about a lot of actors, I don't see why people are over analysing it lol

"Kevin Smith, Jack Black, Jim Carrey, a ton of others"

Like I said above most over actors have had a few films where they don't...Micahel hasn't done this.

Jack Black - Bernie, High Fidelity, Margot at the Wedding

Jim Carrey - Number 23, I Love You Phillip Morris

Kevin Smith...well he usually just plays Silent Bob and isn't really an actor.

-Foxtrot3461d ago

So I prove you wrong that those actors you listed have been in other roles and the result I get is "I'm a bitter prick"...wow....I mean how mature. One of them you edited out, the other you got wrong.

I never knew you would hit a low to immature personal attacks. Here we all are discussing things and you have to be nasty about it.

" If it takes no talent, i guess you can play yourself in everything too for millions a year, huh. Lol"

I already do...it's called My Life and it's been screening since the early 90s.

Concertoine3461d ago (Edited 3461d ago )

@Foxtrot

You didnt prove me wrong on Jim Carrey. I realized i was wrong, in fact i edited before you even replied. Just because you can list some awful performances from those actors doesnt make them versatile. I would describe a versatile actor as someone who can take on different roles well, not one who attempts to do so and fails.

Didnt call you a prick outright, but you sound like one.
-calls actor talentless
-when told he can play his role well, he says this makes him untalented
-proceeds to list largely awful movies from other one trick ponies like that makes them any better. Bernie's like the only decent movie you listed.

Baka-akaB3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

sure but it didnt bother me in Arrested Development .. basically where i discovered him anyway

Dee_913460d ago

Michael Cera is more man than you will ever be Foxtrot ! Michael Cera is the morden day Aaron Burr

KingWookiee3460d ago

Teach me your ways of getting so may bubbles. It's obvious it doesn't take logic to get them so what are your secrets?

BitbyDeath3460d ago

Nah, I loved everything about Scott Pilgrim, music especially was brilliant. Sure he was the same in that movie as others but that persona suited better in Scott Pilgrim than anything else... IMO

Qrphe3460d ago

That's very much your opinion, since you don't even know him in real life.

Shotcalm3460d ago

well that's just, like your opinion man.

Chinkyinc183460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

It took Michael Cera to ruin Scott Pilgrim for you? Geez, the plot of Scott Pilgrim is enough to ruin Scott Pilgrim. I actually believe Michael Cera was the perfect portrayal for Scott Pilgrim as they're both douchebags.

JamesBondage3460d ago

you mean he plays normal people in movies about normal people? what a terrible actor.. if you don't like an actor, just say it, but calling them talentless? when they clearly aren't.. just makes you look like an idiot

vallencer3460d ago

It's called being type cast. It happens to a lot of actors. Besides if he's good at playing himself then let him keep playing himself and then you can just stop watching the movies that he's in while the rest of us enjoy them :). Regardless of what you think he is a good actor even if all he does is play "himself".

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

gold_drake33d ago

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on

The Next Mario Kart Desperately Needs A Good Gimmick

Mario Kart 8 has been out for nine years now if you include the Wii U version. Despite the Switch port continuing to sell insane numbers since it came out in 2017, many people believed that a new installment was way past due. When the Booster Course Pass was announced instead, it was a bit controversial, with one side of people stating that it was time for a new game, and the other side believing that this was the best course of action and that there's nothing else Nintendo can do to innovate the franchise.

There's nothing wrong with the games, but after most of them being very samey, I got a bit bored. I liked MKDS because it added a mission mode, yeah it didn't have maybe as many as I'd like but it was decent for variety.

I really prefer the new Mario Party for the different types of games in it.

Mario Kart doesn't really feel fresh because you know what to expect for every new game pretty much. The single player mode of DKR was far more in depth a game vs Mario Kart IMO, MK is probably better for multiplayer though.

-Foxtrot331d ago

It needs a campaign mode like Crash Team Racing with open hubs, driving around the Mushroom Kingdom, selecting your races and the like. Have a system like the CTR tokens within the races that then unlock secret racing cups later on or the time relics to unlock other things.

There's nothing wrong with the games but when you've had the same set up for so many games it just gets a bit samey after a while.

They could even have something like a track creator like Modnation Racers or something.

Neonridr331d ago

I always enjoyed the single player aspect of Diddy Kong Racing myself.

Knushwood Butt331d ago

After starting with the first game on SNES, I think the last one I bought was on the DS.

Phlacky330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

I think the next gimmick should be interactive tracks with obstacles and traps such as maybe throwing a shell ahead to make something fall on another player Also have water and mud parts that effect handling more also fire parts that can cause you to over heat if you stay in it to long etc...

Yi-Long330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

I don’t think it needs ‘a gimmick’ so much, because gameplay is pretty much perfect right now, but I would like the next Mario Kart to do either a ‘track-builder’ thing, so you just get access to the tools and make your own tracks (think Modnation Racers or LBP Karting), and/or expand upon ‘Mario’ Kart and open it up to the rest of Nintendo IPs, and just do a ‘Nintendo Kart’, so we’d see more of Zelda, but also Starfox, Kirby, Metroid, Valkyria Chronicles*, etc.

* I know, technically not ‘Nintendo’.
