Well to be fair, Amazon has been pulling these kind of deals for the XB1 for almost a year and a half off and on. Ever since last year, Amazon almost monthly put up deals of "buy an xb1, get a free game", "buy an xb1, get a free game, a controler, and forza horizon 2", etc.

Hell, Amazon has given away forza horizon 2 codes in xb1 deals so much you'd think Microsoft themselves were doing it (even though it's amazon doing it).

They probably gave Sony a deal like that once or twice. I know I dang sure never saw it though.

This is a MS sponsored promotion. You can get it through GameStop, and according to the article other retailers, although I'm unsure which because I have no need to buy an X1S right now.

Maybe you don't pay attention but, they are constantly running bundle deals on PS4. They just had one with $75 off.You have always been able to get a PS4 for less than the MSRP.

Oh that's just it. I DO pay attention. Which is why I know for a fact Amazon DOESN'T constantly run PS4 deals at least in the United States. If they do, it must be in some other country/ region.

Because over in the states, Amazon does things like that for microsoft's Xb1 nearly monthly. And most of the major stores out of competition have a tendency to deal/price match

To be honest, having these limited times sales and promotions really indicates the true worth of the console so whoever bought it at regular price a month back...well, patience is key. With Scorpio, I guarantee it's gonna be 2 games instead of 1.

with HDR on my TV, this deal is amazing for upgrading. Halo 5 and Forza 3, trade in a couple of things i have and this is a steal!

You should value time more, while Scorpio is being develop you will be enjoying some fine high quality gaming

@gamingisnotacrime It's not the halo 5 bundle and your game of choice, just your game of choice i.e. Choose your game bundle. However the Halo bundle is a good deal too including both H5 and the MCC. This just gives the consumer more options, which is definitely a plus.

It's valid with any X1S bundle or base SKU sold through Amazon(or other participating retailers) and any game from the list of games on the titles included in the promotion, which appears to be most of them.. I tried a couple different options and put them in my cart to test it out, and the game was always discounted out.

Those who will feel that innate need to damage control will say it's some type of early holiday sale or that it's limited to amazon. While forgetting that it's Microsoft who pays for each "free" game Amazon ship with this deal. Or the fact that there are no matching extra free games or free money/gift cards being sold with the PS4.

Truth is the XB slim isn't selling like they hoped or expected. Microsoft needs something other than the annualized halo, Gears, and Forza. I'm not knocking those games. If you like them then get your game on. I'm just saying that their is a broader audience out there for whom Halo, gears, and Forza are a non factor.

play ignorant if you want to but when your product is selling consistently you don't need to bundle in free money, free games on top of the already bundled free games, and a free kitchen sink just to sell units.

As for the link, NPD reported that the XB sold 270K but the Slim sold less than 150K. It was available to preorder since June @E3 and only contributed <150k to the 270K total.

That's a dire situation for your new console to be in. But you wont admit that and instead ask me to prove some more, right? Despite google being right at your finger tips.

Sorry, this is a MS promotion. They are funding the additional game to promote the system.

While I agree that people making it into a negative are being silly, it's not an Amazon promotion like you are implying. MS is literally paying the price of these new games to the retailer(likely through rebates), or at least a portion of the MSRP(likely retailers initial wholesale purchase price plus a kickback) to be able to provide this promotion.

No problem with you calling out people trying to spin this into a negative, but at least get the facts straight so when you try to make your argument said argument doesn't fall on it's face in your first sentence. What's sad, is that even the OP your responding to states that it's not just an Amazon deal. New model doesn't bring much if you don't have an 4K HDR TV. The HDR itself is a nice feature, and upscaling built in is nice, but again, only if you have a 4K TV. UHD is a great added value, but again, only if you have a 4K TV.

The higher clock speed is fairly marginal, and while it can show some improvement in some games, it's not really worth trading up for without a 4K TV, and even then, on a performance level, you don't gain much even with a 4K TV.

I don't think it defuncts the OGX1 in any way, since for the most part, devs are still going to build to the OGX1, and just throw in an HDR profile for supporting that. Scorpio will likely cause the X1/X1S to become less relevant faster than the slim will.

So, basically, if one doesn't have a 4K TV, and has a X1 now, there is no real reason to upgrade unless you can get an even trade or something. Even if one plans to get a 4K TV in the future, they'd probably just be better waiting it out to trade up, since the X1S will be cheaper then, and OGX1 trade in prices aren't likely to drop much lower than they already are until after Scorpio is out and gets to a mass market price.

If someone doesn't have an X1, then the X1S is probably the better bet, barring looking for a good deal on the stock X1 where it's been discounted by retailers in places.

Best way to take advantage of this: Gamestop is including the original Xbox One in the deal (including its bundles), and the bundles are currently heavily discounted. You can get the 500GB Gears of War Ultimate bundle with either Rare Replay, Tomb Raider or Forza 6, PLUS any $59.99 or under game, all for $230 before tax/shipping. Too good of a deal to pass up, especially if you don't care about 4k (which is I'm guessing most people here).

Went ahead and got Tomb Raider bundle with GTA5, and I'll be returning GTA5 and grabbing Forza Horizon 3 in its place (for some reason unreleased games aren't included on Gamestop's site at checkout).

If I was incline to buy an Xbone, Id just wait for Scorpio. I also dont see wht the big deal is that the consoles now stream 4k video. If you have a 4k tv it already does this and it already upscales so those two things dont seem like features to me.
