Fable Legends Is Coming To Xbox One & PC On October 13th

Microsoft has announced that Fable Legends is coming to Xbox One and PC on October 13th.

I'm loving the beta! Finally a fable I actually enjoy playing. Did try the villain and although difficult to get into been having a blast hearing the hero's scream for help. Lol

What I played of the beta was very repetitive, but that's to be expected from a limited content release with the purpose of testing for bugs. One thing that this game has an overwhelming amount of is potential. If they can take the foundation of the beta and build it into a deep team based action rpg, this might be the game I've been wanting.

Pity this is a F2P online game.
It's free, so might try it out... but, would prefer Fable 4 or a new single player IP.

Fable 4 will come when they have thought of a good concept for it. I am not a fan of pushing for games to be available before the developers have felt the need to make them. When the concept is organic, the game is more enjoyable to play. A true masterpiece has soul and passion that can not be forced.

Wouldn't mind if they spilt up two Fable franchises. One for co-op/multiplayer and the main games as single player driven stories.

No offense, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I definitely hope they don't do a mainline Fable again. This is one of the problems I have with gamers nowadays, especially enthusiasts on forums.

Think about it. Has Lionhead ever REALLY demonstrated that they are premier story-tellers in this industry?

If the answer is No, which I'm guessing is what the majority would say...then why write another story driven game?

If they've PROVEN that they aren't great story-tellers, then why demand a company to put out a "serviceable story". Serviceable isn't worth $60 to me.

My list of top 5 things Fable does well is this.

1. Art Direction
2. Combat
3. Lore
4. Quirky Characters
5. Humor

All 5 of those are what drives Fable Legends. Those aspects of the game are WELL ABOVE serviceable. So they got rid of some of the things they don't do well and focused on what they actually do best.

The sad part to me, is that most people don't even look at developers that way. They never bring up the pros and cons to a company and wished they just did what they excel at.

In this case, I applaud Lionhead for ditching the story. I wish more studios were honest with themselves and re-evaluated their approach based on their talent.

Again, no offense Fox, I just hate when gamers ask for something that's serviceable because it fills in their little checklist of what a game is "supposed to be".

Bring a new team to do a true rpg with fable. They are missing a huge opportunity with this ip

I don't disagree that the series hasn't really lived up to its original promises, but I still feel they can make a Fable game one day that actually does. I mean at least let Lionhead try it out before just expecting them to kill the series or something lol.

Lionhead is working on a new IP btw.

Legends fit in so well with the other fable games and it can grow to fill the requirements of other games (Housing,Tattoos,Etc...)... but Fable has always had the illusion of open world, and the areas in Legends look much bigger than areas in previous Fable games.

Legends will have a lot more replay value and be able to grow as a game over the next 5-10 years.

I'm glad Lionhead will have a team working on Legends and another team doing a new IP.

Well lack of faith or too little I believe Lionhead can do a main Fable game justice instead of messing around with this F2P stuff.

Peter Molyneux was the problem with Fable 1-3 and how he bigged up promises....he's gone now and that was after Fable 3.

The problem with the main games is that they spent of their time and resources of co-op stuff and how you can interact with buddies. It's usually always a main feature for them and I feel like they never get around to the other stuff...you know the stuff they big up

You have something like Legends now so it would be better to separate the single player and multiplayer into two franchises.

Urm...Fable was a single player story driven RPG, that's how it started and that's what it was when it began.

So at the end of the day that IS what it's supposed to be.

Actually, the first Fable (Project Ego), was supposed to have Co-Op.

There's footage of it online. So, to say that it was always a Single Player RPG is incorrect. That was a feature cut in the last year or so of development.

The game was always about multiple heroes in the world. Which is EXACTLY what Fable Legends is about.

The current person in charge of lion head comes from more of an mmo background so I don't think it looks good for a new single player game.

I agree, but at this point anything is better than what the Fable series has become.

I would like to see a more serious tone for the next Fable, it has become a joke as of late. Lionhead definitely need to redeem themselves from the very mediocre Fable 3.

I just want them to capture that magic of the first game.

The series has a few things which big Western RPG games don't have (or do better) compared games like Elder Scrolls for example.

Marriage, better character interaction, start a family, buy houses, rent them out, designs, customization etc

If they could take inspiration from Witcher 3 or Fallout and add in their features listed above then they could create a truly unique RPG game.

They need to hurry since as you can see with Fallout 4's new features they could end up being beaten to the punch by the time Elder Scrolls VI comes out.

Kind of the reason I want them to separate the games.

If you are doing a co-op based game is there actually any point in creating a main Fable game and also adding co-op into that aswell.

It's like when Capcom did Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, a co-op based game, then did the main game WITH CO-OP aswell.

I played the game on 360 for a short while. it's fun and my friends love it but i'll easily pick smite , gigantic and fable legends over it.
