Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Only Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, More Info Released

According to an extensive preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 by Mashable (taken down), the game will only be launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
In addition, in-game screenshots of the game were also shown off.

I've heard this might not be entirely true. They will either announce the last gen versions later by another studio or they could be different like Declassified.

This will sell consoles as this is one of those games that's your regular Joe buys who only buys 1 or 2 games a year and hasnt upgraded to a ps4 or xbone yet because of that reason. So thanks to it finally ditching older consoles MS and Sony will see a massive rise in consoles around launch and afterwards. The thing holding them both back is past console support. The sooner its dropped the sooner current consoles sell better.

Graphics aren't what gets the bump removing the older consoles what gets the bump is everything else. You can make bigger worlds, bigger maps, bigger storys, bigger everything!

ya still a very large number of cod copies last year were sold especially on the 360 . it will be interesting to see how ms and sony jockey for this consumer base ,this would be the time to make sure the jump to your console .

Cod ghosts on ps4 sold more. But I think advance warfare on Xone sold a bit more not a huge gap.

Everyone that replied to this has made me 99% sure sony has the rights. No way would they be using ps4 and not xb1 for a not-NDA-protected sampling.

I don't think Sony has rights to this either. I could be wrong, but it doesn't make sense. Xbox live is where its at for tournaments and Xbox One was first in order when platforms were listed.

Plus people got to play ps4 AND pc versions.

Maybe Xbox one version is not ready to show off yet due to converting to dx12 and not as polished yet as the other 2 platforms?

This is going to be good for both COD and the new systems. I'm kinda losing interest in the series even though I loved AW. Having Black ops 3 be current gen only will make a lot of cod fans upgrade to get the end of the trilogy. I'm hoping that they do end Black Ops on a very high note.

I think I've officially given up on Infinity Ward Making COD, but I will continue to get the Treyarch ones until they start to go down hill. It sounds like this one will be awesome so far...as far as the Sledgehammer ones I'm kinda torn....I love they game the built for the most part, but the problem is that all the gamers gravitated towards the over-powered weapons...and now it's just a cheap-tacti-fest. Everyone has a Bal or ASM1...cause no one has any actual skill.

That being said, I'm REALLY looking forward to BO3, already have it pre-ordered.

Haha no way, not this year anyway. Microsoft and Sony are just chompin' at the bit to get gamers to upgrade, getting devs and pubs into these marketing deals to advertise and push new gen versions. The PS360 and/or Wii U versions will get stealth announced a month or two from launch. This is after they've dragged everyone to buy a PS4 or XBone lol.

Last gen is rapidly shrinking, not growing. I rarely ever see anyone online on PS3 anymore, but when I get on my PS4 I usually have at least 10 friends online at any given time even past midnight (in my zone) and they all own/owned PS3s. Same with Xbox.

Xbox360 is having its 10th anniversary this November, and PS3 the following year. Throughout history, most consoles had support dropped by their manufacturers long before 10 years. We're already about a year and a half into the current generation of PS and Xbox. Even Compile Heart (for example) has completely moved onto the PS4, even though their games are about as niche as they can get.

Advanced Warfare sold 7.55 million on last gen consoles. Its still very lucrative for AAA games to release on them for the next few years. Just because you don't see PS3 gamers online on your own individual friends list doesn't mean the platform has no activity. PS3 still garners the most software sales weekly out of all modern gaming platforms.

The 7th generation has shown that gamers are still very much active even 10 years into the lifecycle, so companies would be wise to continue supporting these gamers instead of outright dropping support and saying tough luck. That generation is nothing like the generations of old so no point in comparing them. There is a movement of more games becoming only available on 8th gen, but it won't be completely common until 2017 at the earliest.
