The article praises, quite rightly I think, the fact that the game is a more simplistic online shooter. Your first point would be out of place in this game.
As for points 2 and 3, people always want more. I think there's enough and once you've found your favourite game mode and weapons the challenges encourage you to try different things

Only problem I've had with my two controllers is one R2 trigger broke at pivot point.
Got replacement off Ebay and thanks to YouTube video it was fixed for a few Pounds.
So try that before binning a broken controller. Nothing to lose after all

Star Wars as a franchise has to appeal to everyone from kids to adults. That makes sense, hence the game is more casual than hardcore.
But it is FUN. I haven't played or wanted to play a game so much in years.
I too prefer it for being casual.
Kudos to you if you are good at COD but I prefer this. Each to their own.
We're in the era where some will not be happy about something and just go on and on about it. Get over it and move on. Spend your time playing something you enjoy instead.
Some may have been disappointed but it looks great, it's great fun and above all it feels like Star Wars.

OK so the game isn't "hardcore" like COD. That makes sense.
Why compete with an established shooter.
Plus, Star Wars is a franchise that appeals to people of all ages. Let them all have a chance to play. And if your a fan the game is a lot of fun and very accessible. I love it and can't keep away. COD doesn't do it for me.
The season pass pricing is the way the market is going. Battlefront isn't the first and won't be the last.

Personally (and I must he a bigger Star Wars fan as I like the prequels and have SW tattoos btw) I think the game is great.

This isn't the case if you use PayPal. Then you only pay for what you spend.
And it's not just Sony that does this. I have a card to use on local buses where the minimum credit you can add is £10 when even an unlimited day ticket costs about £5.
