DayZ Standalone Moves One Step Closer To Launch As Steam Page Appears

On the back of today’s news around a Halo 3 Steam page being found, another little gem popped up… a DayZ standalone community page.

While this news doesn’t mean the game is just around the corner, it does lend a little more hope that we’ll not only see distribution through Steam at launch, but the developers may be closer to open beta/release than some may have anticipated.

I'd like to think I'm ready for this. I know that my mind and sanity are not. I cannot wait to see what Hall has in store for us! This may not be a very big step forward, but any movement is good movement!

SPAM-FRITTER-1234111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

I play DayZ most nights of the week. this and ARMA:III are my games for 2013. Looking at the difference of graphics for the stand alone DayZ makes we want it now.being honest here i hope they iron out those awful bugs for the stand alone. i must have broken my legs 10+ last week walking over a tree stump or a step to a house.

Once again PC gaming is the place to be, Thanks Modders and Devs.

MurDocINC4110d ago

I look forward to smooth player movement/control and less lag for zombies.

RedSoakedSponge4108d ago

dont forget the stupid flanking zombie AI is being removed! so no longer will they try to flank you which makes sense XD

ThanatosDMC4111d ago

For the most current news about the game check out the official DayZ tumblr page.

Waiting patiently to have my Mind BLOWN once more by DayZ. I kinda slowed down on playing DayZ but it will pick back up once the SA is released.

DayZ, Wasteland, Takistan Life, Arma 2, Take On Helicopters

Bohemia Interactive has my FULL gaming attention as their Games and Mods are pretty much ALL I play along with a few other titles.

.........and it all starts over when Arma 3 is released.

CaptainCamper4111d ago

They need to hurry up and launch the game before it's too late. If they're not careful The War Z developers will fix their game and take all the players.

But that still gives DayZ about 10 years to release before that happens.

Wormwood4111d ago

For A second there, I thought I was going to disagree with you :P

Skate-AK4111d ago

Haha I almost disagreed with him too.

RedSoakedSponge4108d ago

and i bet the disagrees he did get were from people that didnt read all of what he said lol

TheSaint4110d ago

Damn, shot my disagree bolt too early.

Sorry.

Cirran4111d ago

Are they make huge improvements for the standalone version?

Timesplitter144111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

Oh dear god yes. Here are some of the improvements :
- Improved graphics with volumetric clouds and better lighting
- Characters are fully customizable with clothing and accessories
- Weapons are customizable with add-ons
- Inventory system has been completely re-designed
- Addition of possible diseases on dead player's clothes
- New server architecture that makes it almost impossible for anyone to use hacks (MMO structure)
- Loot can now be found inside car wrecks, drawers, etc... and you don't have to wait for it to spawn
- Chernarus map redesigned with added cities and military camps

Here's the DayZ Standalone blog for all the info so far : dayzdev.tumblr.com

It's gonna be awesoooooome!

Blacktric4111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

-a server based netcode that prevents modifications from being done to the game itself from client side to prevent cheating (similar to what most MMO's use)

-full ragdoll effects (will be added "after" alpha release)

-weapon modifications

-weapon clips now act as containers so you'll be able to put different types of bullets in different orders if you wish to do so (three regular followed by two armor piercing, etc.)

-completely revamped inventory system

-being able to fully customize your character and ability to wear clothes you'll be able to find lying around

-possibility of contracting diseases like cholera from the world itself (some clothes you can find will be infected for instance)

-possibility of a whole town getting infested with a disease after certain things happen (a lot of infected players staying in the town, etc.)

-completely revamped, location based damage system (one of the things mentioned is the possibility of amputations or getting your character's arm blow off if it gets hit with a high caliber weapon)

-ability to build underground bases (will be added after alpha release)

-a newly designed map called Chernarus Plus that has a lot more "enterable" buildings and possible support for popular user made maps

And these are just some of the few they've been talking about since the game's announcement.

ThanatosDMC4111d ago

Yup, check the link I posted on the top. It shows pictures and lists all the changes compared to vanilla Day Z mod.

Cirran4111d ago

Are they opening up how many buildings you can go inside? Last I played you could hardly explore any.

ThanatosDMC4110d ago

Yup, according to Rocket. You could also try the other maps but you'll be more paranoid than normal because of all the open buildings.

Veni Vidi Vici4111d ago

They really should think about doing something with the name to clarify to customers that they aren't the same game as The War Z. Completely different games and devs. Make sure people know this.

Tr10wn4111d ago

DayZ is the original one WarZ copy the shit out of that game including the similarity of the name so there is nothing they can do except change the name and that just unfair for the people who started it all.

Timesplitter144111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

I can't wait

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii10d ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo10d ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows9010d ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

Michiel19899d ago

Not sure why you're getting agrees. an awful lot of console gamers are overemotional twinks ready to go to war over a plastic box, I'll take being a pc gamer then.

Speaking about overgeneralizing much.

Nooderus9d ago

"X" type of gamer conversations are cringe

qalpha10d ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno10d ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan10d ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno10d ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life198110d ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

SegaSaturn6699d ago

I never liked refunding anything. Even if a film is bad, i dont want my money back. Sometimes things just aren't for me, and it's not the creator's fault necessarily.

Gaming4Life19819d ago

I feel you and i have never walked out on a bad movie cause I payed my money. I also don't refund games cause I'm a gamer and I know what to buy lol. I think having a digital refund is great.
