Console Domination: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection Review

Console Domination writes: I remember the first time I played Shadow of the Colossus, I was at my brother's house, just visiting when I tried the game, and just like that I was enthralled. As I battled the first colossus, the camera panned to show how insignificant I was compared to the creature. The music swelled into a powerful crescendo. I was on the edge of my seat as I scaled across the giant beast, my character hanging on for dear life as the leviathan bucked and tried to throw me off. That's the sort of vivid memory only a truly great game can give you. That's the genius of Fumito Ueda and Team Ico. His games are commonly cited as example that games can be art for a reason (although their appearance on the "best games nobody played" lists is a rather more dubious honour). Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are both powerfully emotional games, and should be experienced by anyone who believes that games can be art.
