Modern Warfare 3 interview: Robert Bowling on Spec Ops Survival, map designs, AI changes and more

Digital Spy writes: "Spec Ops, the mission-based counterpart to World at War's fan-favourite Zombies mode, was a huge success in Modern Warfare 2. It returns in this year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, alongside Spec Ops Survival, a wave-based co-operative mode that sees two players survive against increasingly overwhelming odds. We chat to Infinity Ward's creative strategist Robert Bowling about what's in store for players, adjustments to enemy AI and map design."

.
" What's the hardest thing you'll come up against in Survival?...

"Haha, it's hard! I would say it's when you get to a wave that has air support, so helicopters trying to pin you down, along with the kamikaze dogs in addition to a riot shield Juggernaut and a normal Juggernaut, both who have very different tactics. One will be charging at you, making you run away, and while the other has a Michael Myers-style stalking you and forces you into the other one, and that's when it gets really s***y." \o/

They obviously are keeping the multi-player to the last minute...lol...you don't want the parasites knowing ALL your secrets.

Yeah, I'm interested to know what if anything is new in the multiplayer.

Besides having rethougth their killstreak system (Killstreak rewards won't add kills to your current killstreak). Alot of balance has got into the game, weapons and perks mostly.

Surely, alot of customization will be added aswell and I am almost certain they will come up with new modes and objectives.

To have reached the 8th game of the franchise, I doubt they will make anything groundbreaking, hopefully they prove me wrong.

Stop pretending this is any different to MW2

Kee4666d ago (Edited 4666d ago )

Come up with a more original trolling comment.

Seriously. If you don't like call of duty, don't play it. And don't comment on these articles with your potshots at the developers. You're not welcome with your childish retorts.

Miiikeyyy4666d ago

I'll come up with a better comment when they come up with a better game.

It's funny, the hate towards Call of Duty seem to match its rising popularity :)

People were hating on MW2 for SO long. Black Ops then sold 25million copies the year after.

Purps4666d ago

IW, more game modes isn't going to help your game.

You need a new engine. You're milking the current one, as is sadly expected from Activision.

This is MW2.1, not MW3.

MidnytRain4666d ago (Edited 4666d ago )

Is survival the only Spec Ops mode in MW3 or will the missions structures from MW2 be there, too? I liked those missions.

Only 2 players?! Are u fuckn serious???

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
