Sony came up with name "Vita" in 2007?

iamportable.com: Recently I have been checking PSVita’s Youtube channel, when suddenly I noticed that account called “psvita” was created in 2007.

Companies take so much time in trademarking and making names for the future. The have a lot of names just over the past years that have been coined and trademarked but they have done nothing with them.

It's really not all that surprising. These consoles and handhelds are designed and tested years and years ahead of their release. The PS4 is probably already almost complete and was probably started on right after the PS3's release. Research and Development takes aLOT of time and aLOT of money. Can't wait for my PS Vita. Can't decide on whether I want a Wifi or 3G/Wifi model, though. I'll probably go ahead and get the 3G, just in case.

Just a thought though. Since Sony came up with PS Vita instead of calling it PSP2, do you guys think they'll call the PS4 anything different?? I don't think so myself. I think they'll go ahead and stick with PS4. It's just easier and more recognizable.

"Vita" existed way before 2007. There's even a French singer that's called Vita and she's been singing for ages.

And if I remember correctly, in Latin in means "life". Yea, it's an actual word in Latin

@Rush
I agree Rush, my point was that Sony didn't come up with the name.

Lolz good little edit there, I was about to point it that it has nothing to do with an insanely named French singer.

there's a drink brand called Vita

I still call it NGP sometimes.

But then again, when it was officially called NGP, I called it the PSP2, and now that it's Vita, I keep saying NGP.

I'm sure PSVita will stick eventually.

I guess it took it that long to grow on them...
I'm still not liking the name.
I like the hardware a lot. The design is great...but that name. ugh...

The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
