The Battlefield 3 map Operation Metro was recently discussed in a Battleblog, and now we have a comparison to a popular BF2 map, when it comes to size.
Sounds big enough for me
is this size for console or pc map ??? because they said console version will be smaller in size.
I think for Rush the sizes will be the same. It's just the other modes that will have different sizes (I think) It's also an infantry map so even if it were conquest, it may be the same size (infantry maps are usually smaller than vehicle maps)
I believe it's a PC map since he referenced 64 player.
Rush maps are segmented though into sections. So its possible. Likely there will be a little shrinkage if PC players get 64 player rush modes. They have yet to confirm this. As only Conquest in the past has had 64 Players on the PC. So....
This will be fun!
Definitely, cannot wait to play this map. I have a feeling, they want it to become the new Karkand maybe.
They should make a comparison to Bad Company 2 maps instead of Bf2, though this map does not look way to big at all. It's comparable to Panama Canal even Oasis which is once of my Fav maps in Bc1+2. Though this map will be way more close due to all the buildings, they may have to shorten the map a bit but not to much.
Never played BF2, eh?
lol doesnt seem like it
Welll no. Thw only ones i played were BF1942, Vietnam, BF2 for xbox which was pretty bad port i hear, Bf1943. BC1 n 2
Infantry Only maps will be small and quite linear, although with a few flanking points, similar to this map. This map however, does not speak for the rest of the maps included in the game, although it may speak for the Infantry only maps, but I would imagine that the Vehicle maps are much bigger, in comparison to both BF2's and BC2's Infantry and Vehicle map sizes. Not to mention this comparison is comparing Rush to Conquest, Conquest being the much more open and free to do mode to just roam around and kill and capture flags, rush being the much more linear objective based mode it is.
If you haven't played Karkand before, you can get a sense of the scale from the Bradley near the first attacker base (It's white)
The RU faction was on Karkand?? whaaaaa???
I was confused as well when he said that, it was MEC
Yeah I was confused by it too. They have RU on Karkand in Battlefield P4F, but he's not referring to that...
I think the rush modes will have smaller maps, that's why the player count will be capped at 32 on PC and 24 on console. Conquest maps will be much bigger though and those maps will support 64 players. Also I hope that TDM will be capped at 18 because I don't want another MOH flaws repeated.
What? Why cap at 18 players. I hope PC TDM is 64 players.
Then what would draw players to play Rush or conquest? If people who haven't played BF before see TDM as BF without objectives what would be the incentive to play conquest or other modes with objectives? That's why TDM has to be small and simple, in order to keep the main BF modes popular and played more.
18 is a little too small. 64 TDM would work, it's like playing infantry only on BF2 with 64 players. I'm stuck with 24 on console, which is totally fine with me. But I will have it on PC as well, and I can't wait for some TDM 32 or 64 players
Did you not read my explanation?
I think the BC2 map sizes are mostly perfect. BC2's Heavy Metal is too large to me. Large is OK if there were more bases along the way. A map as big as Heavy Metal should have at least 5 capture points, not just 3. If you don't have a vehicle, you have to walk for 3 minutes.
Meh, they need to be a bit bigger since this game is gonna have double the amount of players and way more vehicles. And you're absolutely right about Heavy Metal, it's a bit too big (at least for 32 players). And that three minute walk could be interrupted by either an enemy heli or a blasted sniper on the side of a mountain.
