Siliconera: After seeing the news that Capcom cancelled Mega Man Universe, I thought about a conversation Seth Killian, Community Manger, and I had after talking about Mega Man Legends 3.
"There is also sort of this weird [belief] in Japan where a lot of Japanese developers, at least internal in Capcom, sort of don’t believe Mega Man is popular in the U.S.," Killian said.
Don't you wish Capcom still made new Mega Man games? This article focuses on how the Blue Bomber can be reimagined for the current console generation.
Hardcore Gamer: Mega Man is dying with every passing month. Even compared to the scatterbrained Resident Evil, Mega Man is in a colossal danger zone.
Honestly their IP's would do better without Capcom. I'd rather see Nintendo get the Megaman IP from them like I would like to see Sony get the Resident Evil IP.
The IP's are either wasted or ruined.
Out of all my favorites franchises, Capcom owns three, and one of them is MegaMan X.
Capcom killed Resident Evil, Breath of Fire, MegaMan X. Since 2008, I promised to myself that Capcom would NEVER see a dollar from my wallet again, and so I did.
To me, Capcom could be purchased by Microsoft, 'cause being purchased by Microsoft is worse than going bankrupt.
Capcom is dead. It just need a grave.
Super PolyPixel - Capcom is a heartbreaker. They tease us with games right before snatching them away from out outstretched fingers. The Mega Man franchise has been hit especially hard, alienating many fans. Each Capcom announcement, we wait eagerly for Mega Man news only to be denied. Capcom has seemed to focus their attention to other games: Resident Evil, Remember Me, Lost Planet 3, their endless supply of HD remakes…and we are left wistful for what could have been.
the last megman games i recently played were the ones on the ds where you could transform into the bosses and stuff that was fun
Here's a simple solution:
Check sales charts and see if Mega Man is blowing them up here in the States. Heck, have you seen the sales numbers for Mega Man 9 and 10? Not very impressive.
Is there a fanbase for Mega Man in the US? Absolutely.
But "fanbase" does not mean "popular". See Earthbound for further reference.
Wtf are you kidding me i have every single mega man x game that came out.Hell im playing mega man zx advent right now.
Here's something that reminds of this game.
I love me some megaman!!
Just one more piece of evidence that's Capcom's business decissions are made by complete retards that are absolutely out of touch with what their fans want/like. I've persoanlly known this since 2007 when they cancelled Monster Hunter 3 for PS3 and made it Wii exclusive, and just about every choice they've made since has been just as or almost as bad. And in some cases worse. I knew they completely lost their marbles when I saw some of the rediculous roster choices for Marvel vs Capcom 3, including Mega Man not being on there, which relates to this article.....Or 5-6 bucks for a few alternate costumes already on the disc (in SF and MvC). Or how about charging for multi-player in RE5? Or how about releasing ANOTHER retail version of SF4 just to add 4 characters, when Capcom said long ago that SuperSF4 was set-up to be combatible with DLC characters if they decided to add any more? And there are many more examples.
They've just completely lost it, man. In alot of ways they're even worse than Activision at this point. At least Activision knows what their fans want and gives it to them. Capcom is just completely out of touch.
Right. Its so unpopular that X fans have been waiting for X9 for years, Legends fans waited years for MML3, and X is always on the top 3 of any MVC3 DLC poll and topped the Capcom Unity poll with 34.07% of the votes.
