Will you Move or Kinect?

Now that Microsoft has played its hand and confirmed the price of the Kinect in Australia, gamers can start doing their sums and deciding whether they will invest in the new motion control systems this Christmas.

AAACE55454d ago

I probably won't do either one right away! Now that all the E3 excitement of these being announced has passed, I see very little reason to get either one right away!

There will be other games to keep me occupied until more games come out for these to justify a purchase. Plus, more importantly, wait for the prices to drop! Either one will be expensive, because Kinect will cost $150, and 2 Move setups will cost around $150 as well!

DERKADER5454d ago

They're both gimmicks that will lose support after a year.

Genesis55454d ago

I will be moving and will be dis-kinected.

Theonetheonly5454d ago

due to the fact that it will be natively supported for the pc soon.

for move to work i would have to wait for some thirf party to do bluetooth or whatever to make it useable on my pc.

Theonetheonly5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

plus a webcam or something and a mod for the cam software

shoddy5454d ago

I'll Move with that Move jail house fighting game with 2 controllers.
Then resident evil, socom 4, and KZ3 with that add on gun handle.

You will truely aim with hand eye co. Instead of useing thumb.

frostyhat1235453d ago

but really?
Horse Powerr is praised because he wants the PS Move. He is marked with Intelligent and has 95 agrees and 13 disagrees.
Now, Green Ring of Life say he wants the Kinect. In now way is he trying to start a battle or is he trolling. But somehow he gets only 20 agrees and 105 disagrees.

Yea, I am definitely getting Move as well. I already pre-ordered it. It has a great line up of games coming out for it. Where Kinect has a very lame line-up for upcoming games.

And for $150 all you get is a camera with 2 player support where you have to stand up for every game.

You also receive no force feedback which sucks!

LexHazard795454d ago

you don't have to stand to play all Kinect games...

harrisk9545454d ago

actually, at this point you do have to stand. MS has said that games can be coded in the FUTURE to have the ability to play sitting down, but it has been made very public that MS told developers initially to make sure that the gameplay required players to stand. It has been brought up in more articles than I can count.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

PS Move, there are better and more games.

JsonHenry5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

Not until they make a game that warrants the purchase. Otherwise I got a useless piece of hardware sitting in my living room.

D4RkNIKON5454d ago

Move has games for the hardest of core.

WIIIS15454d ago

HAHAHAAHAHAHA!!! Did you believe that when it was known as Wii???

D4RkNIKON5454d ago

The wii doesn't have Killzone 3, Socom 4, Little Big Planet 2, GT5, Ruse, Resident Evil 4, Heavy Rain and The Fight

GodHandDee5454d ago

Move AWAY from Kinect...

Seriously the line up for Kinect sucks so bad...it's a casual easy cash in screw the hardcore move by MS...The move line up is SO MUCH BETTER! such great variety and we haven't hit GC and TGS yet even...can't wait to buy it

FragMnTagM5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

but what is the motivation? They want Wii numbers, and they are not going to get that by showing a lot of hardcore games on Kinect. MS knows they need to appeal to the extremely casual to achieve anywhere near Wii numbers. Whether it will support hardcore games or not, remains to be seen. I wouldn't count out hardcore game support for it yet. For a device that hasn't even released yet, it is selling rather well.

I think this is one of the biggest hurdles for the Move is that it is focusing too much on the hardcore. I know I will love the Move, but I just don't see it doing Kinect numbers unless they release some more casual games. At the moment, Move doesn't have too many casual games.

Either way I will be getting both as I will most likely use the Move more than the Kinect. The Kinect will be great for parties and when I have family over. I don't think the Move would be too ideal for family and friends as it seems more aimed to a single player experience. With the Kinect, you only need one piece of equipment and a game. The Move requires a lot of pieces for multiple players.

I guess we will just have to wait and see. I am getting tired of all the needless bashing that is going on. If my kids enjoy the Kinect then it was worth the purchase to me. They like playing the Wii, but games that require nun-chuck play are still a little hard for them. I think that the Kinect would be a perfect fit for my children.

The first two comments and there agree and disagree count are a prefect example to show that N4G is indeed for PS3 fanboys.

table5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

That may be true, and probably is, but any serious gamer would buy move over kinect. Any person who comments on sites like this is most probably a hardcore gamer and obviously move with its wide selections of titles that support it, compared to kinect which offers skittles and milo, is going to be the gamers choice.

stuna15454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

Why can't you just decide on what it is you want?
And yes it's already been decided for, considering that it already supporting some games I already have. Which to me adds alot more playability to titles I have already beaten. Just think what it can do for the case against sonys game not having the replayability factor for alot of their fps and even to a degree sp games. IMO this can truly be a game changer for sony, but like always it come down to their marketing stance.

UltimateIdiot9115454d ago

There is a difference between having a preference than being a fanboy. Not everyone hear who likes the PS3 is automatically a PS3 fanboy. Some of us have a strong preference for one console over another, just so happen more N4Gers prefer PS3 but there are indeed fanboys roaming around N4G but they make it obvious.

Why o why5454d ago

all 360 owners want Kinect and all ps3 owners want Move...makes sense...to you. Me on the other hand know many 360 owners who want to see actual games they wanna play before spending their 1 fifty. I also know a few ps3 owners who understand the simplicity and limits of Kinect and are fine with that. You'd probably put it down to fanboys even if they chose a Sony car over a MS brick. Nothing to do with the fact that a car is just better than a brick. Anyway im for Move as ive seen games that i may play and have seen that it can lay a higher variety of game genres. I hope both do well but i can already see what i'd get the most enjoyment from

Rocket Sauce5454d ago (Edited 5454d ago )

the move sure is ergonomically shaped. You'd think both sides could get along over that.

spacetattoo5454d ago

KINECT For sure, I GOT A WII ALREADY SO I DON'T need move.

animelover104875454d ago

if you have the money, and a job why not?

tatotiburon5453d ago

according to N4G: Move, according to the REAL WORLD: Kinect...since e3 kinect has outsold move evrywhere

acky15453d ago

i will buy kinect because thats what the majority in the REAL WORLD are going to do /s

himdeel5453d ago

...likewise I don't do party games so what Kinect has to offer purely from a games prospective I'm not interested :(

lelo2play5453d ago (Edited 5453d ago )

Everybody has been bashing the Wii the last couple of years because of the controls ... now the PS3 is coping it, and everybody automatically praises Move.

Ahhhhh.... fanboys.

SupaGamer5454d ago

I'm more about the Move (if I get either). Kinect sounds to glitchy and there aren't any games for it I'd like.

MariaHelFutura5454d ago

I own both systems and I could care less for Kinect for anything besides browsing, when it`s super cheap I`ll buy it for that. Move on the other hand, looks like it has alot of potential to be used for games I`d like to play.

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

jznrpg259d ago

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Cacabunga258d ago

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken257d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77258d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Lexreborn2258d ago

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
